Here's some pics of a case i am currently cleaning for another rebuild this time a 1916cc for my mate. Was degreased in white spirit then went for a swim in agitation tank, then put in a huge spinning parts washer, then finally i wet bead blasted it. Then i washed the hell out of it in hot water, the results are awesome.

Make sure you remove the bungs and get all that glass bead out.
How clean did the white spirits get it, and what fluid was in the agitation tank?

Dave, the white spirits just makes grease and oil dissapear almost instantly and can get it very clean, as for the chemical in the agitation tank, it is a chloride solution which is mixed at 0.15g per litre or 150ppm, the spinner has a different chemical which is similar but mix at a higher concentration. You can't leave the case in longer than half an hour without removing and thoroughly rinsing it in hot water before you can return it to the tank. The darker half of the case was cleaned with white spirit and then through the tank and spinner, the wet bead blast is what makes it shine. Damo.
