I need one ASAP, can pick up anywhere within a 1.5hr drive from Syd.
MUST BE STRAIGHT AND RUST FREE and needs to be from a 68-71 1500 beetle. I have several from later models but the inner skin is different.
Don't need the glass, winder, trim etc just bare door.
Please u2u if you have one to sell.

Hi,
2 1/2 hour drive? I can check the overall condition of my spare if noone else pipes up. It's fairly complete.
I'm in Canberra.

the drivers door on My 68 Beetle is from a 1976 beetle..
they all fit...
Yes, the inner skin is different...
but once the door trim is on...
they are all the same...
You just need to weld / braze on the clip for the arm rest..

One that is going separate (white). Some rust starting on bottom fold where rubber goes - see pic. The rest straight and rust free. Inside as well.
Another that's with a body (beige).
Some cancer stuff happening bottom back corner - outside, might be more than you wanna fix.

Different winder mechanism, and the external chrome trim is positioned about 10 mm lower on the 1500 doors..................so NO they are not the same:thumb
68AutoBug ·
I used the late single window winders on both doors...
and the chrome strip holes were brazed up...
now they are the same...
and I didn't know about the 1500 aluminium strips being
10mm different to the later beetles...

...and don't forget the external mirror hole and the different shape to the relief hole behind the door handle

Craig,
I gave it just a quick once over today, I'll check it thoroughly tomorrow and take some pics as well.
Looked OK, hinges wobbly around the pins but no panel cancer I could see, bit of surface rust here and there.
Looks un-dinged as well.
BTW it's a 1970 model that it's off.
I'll post up tomorrow.

Craig,
Had a good look, and it looks to be fine. As I said, some minor surface rust, no bubbled paint tell tales.
Anyway, some pics.
Let me know if it's what you need. I'll strip it all out if you want it, and I have to work tomorrow:cry

I have one. Fairly sure it is off a 68. I remember it being in good condition. I'll chek next time I am down the shed in Merrylands.
