help wiring for amps guage

what on the gen do i wire this to???

an ammeter has 2 terminals + and -
its cut into the wire from the regulator to the battery

gauge + is to the reg B+ terminal and gauge - to the battery + terminal

i've got one in one of my bugs but i d/c it
i dont like them if they fail the whole car will die
volt meters are much better

what Joel said ,its a long way from the reg to the ammeter and back so you need to use big arse wire and be certain to avoid anything that might rub thru the insulation and also try to put the cables inside some convo tube and solder the terminals to avoid losses ---------MUCH easier to use a voltmeter ,and just as accurate .
