Does anyone know whether a country buggy steering wheel will fit the steering column of an Oval? I seem to recall someone saying the splines were different or some such issue.
Pehaps a more broad question should be are country buggy steering wheels essentially the same as those found on Standard split beetles, or are they different?

as far as I can see, they are the same as early beetle
splines should be 49-67
edit: I'm not sure about shaft changes but I assumed that being a '68 car with a 49 steering wheel they'd be the same up to 12V

shaft sizes came up in a thread a few months back but from memory bugs upto 60 are the same
i know 61-73 are the same and 74 on is the tapered kind same as watercooled cars

I've been told by a country buggy owner that the steering wheels were sent out from germany to use up very old stock from kubelwagens. Do some research, If that's true then the steering wheels are probably quite valuable.

ur probably right Matt theyre the same as kubel wagen and split bug so they would be worth a bit
even just crappy 2 spoke 60-71wheels have been going for over $50 on ebay latley

Thanks for the responses. There's a wheel I was looking at but the owner reckons the spline count is different to that of an oval. Not sure what to make of it given the above info - me thinks I'll pass on it.

Where is the steering wheel? I have a country buggy without a steerign wheel. I'm interested if you aren't.
