me too it started life as a rebuilt 1776 i purchased off this forum luckily it got pulled down for inspection as nothing was right in the whole motor had to get heaps of machining done and had to go up to new barrels and pistons because the case spigot hole was the wrong diameter talk about a crash course in vw motor building it also had the wrong crank ,wrong bearings heads were f#cked you live you learn i will only be getting motors built from scratch from now on come round one night man you know where i am

had some problems with some swapmeet special 40idf's after changing the emulsion tubes damm they are expensive ,and discovered a small crack in one of the bases now repaired car is running and sounds strong just needs a litlle spit and polish for the rwc and hopefully reg soon
