It appears that from time to time, people who have previously been cited as conducting in inappropriate behaviour, not following basic rules and not doing the right thing even after several requests to do so - come back to VW forums with FAKE names.
I guess it's either to carry on being a dill, or just to keep tabs on other people/forums. Not sure, must be an ego thing.
I say 'out' the buggers. If you're not fake, then prove it, if you are, lets pants 'em at the next show.

Not sure where this came from but meh... my thoughts are that even if they are proven to be fake, only off em if they continue to cause trouble under the new moniker. No its nothing to do with them, its a new member that got a recent thread about something important to a certain member on here moved. She has since removed alot of these posts which were mostly in BA for obvious reasons. She was just someone some of us knew on the forum, pretending to be someone else to cause problems between other members!
Pretty sad really, as this forum doesnt need people like her and others who arent on here for the love of anything Volkswagen, but for their own selfish reasons...

I completly agree with you MikeM.......I wouldn't call you a prude at all,but having said that stick your head out the window and listen to the ways that people "interact" these days(showing my age) some of the crap played on the local radio just as an example. Swearing,rude behaviour and a total disrespect for the elderly/women/children and each other is,unfortunately commonplace these days. It is what society has bacome or is in the process of morphing into. The "Basic Social Skill" as we used to call it is no longer practised and is often ridiculed.Gone are the days you would stand up tall and pretend to behave when you saw the cops,in fear of them partly but mainly RESPECT. These days people swear at them and show nothing but disrespect. Perhaps using a "fake" name is just peoples ways of showing a legitimate intrest in the forum without having to be associated with other non desireable elements like bad language or rude behaviour (that unfortunately some think should be tollerated because they practise it) ,but still having some input non the less......food for thought.🤓 Personally....yeh....some areas are going downhill fast and are turning me off the site but i wouldn't blame it on using "fake" names:jesus

There's been a few on here that have come back with different ID's and been banned, but the process is slow. First of all you need to pick up some of the like patterns that people have in the way they type, and the attacks they make, and then check IP addresses to see if they match the previous person. Then you go through the u2u process before banning as well. All fun and games.
That's why it's just easier to come on here and just be nice instead.

well, we've decided that some people have "multiple" log ins, for legit reasons.
Some people have one user name.
Some people have one name and an alter-ego that they use just to have a go at someone else from time to time - (seems Mr Torrens is a target for that).
Some people have previously been banned for not following the rules, or rather thinking that rules cannot apply to them, as they have a god given right to make the rules in the first place ... then then can't accept that fact that there is even the slightest possibility that when the aliens come to wipe the planet, that they won't be chosen as the worlds smartest person to negotiate survival - which of course is easy - as nothing is better than them - so have returned with a new user name - and forget all previous banning reasons and carry on being Fuckwits.
People with legit usernames (single or multiple) ... dislike Fake Users (aka Fuckwits).
It's hard for mods to spot a fake quickly, so the nice positive people have a moral, social duty to expose Fake Users - who are almost guaranteed to be Fuckwits.
Non-fuckwits, from time to time, have moments of poor decision, though this does not render them life-time fuckwits - as they are able to recognise the possibility that they may have been in-correct. This is the ebb and flow of forum life.
Demonic frenzied quoting is a warning sign - it should be used with care - if you reply to almost all threads by quoting, you may need think if this is a sign...but then if you're a fuckwit then you this would not apply to you now would it.
So fake users, who don't come clean are annoying at best. They usually have some axe to grind, or some politcal agenda they want to push, or perhaps they never tire of quoting ...
Well, thats what I take out of it ... and seems like 'good' people have no problem in anyone else outing a FAKE user. Name and shame, name and shame.

Everytime i get a u2u, although it has been yonks since its happened (got a defam post, or someone going nuts at me...) lately people just hold the grudges like barkin' female dogs for the noob i was MORE than 12 months ago... I was under 18 then and hadnt been familiar with any internet forum socialising with peoples i didn't know..., and therefore had to learn the process of healthy forum socialising and to see the other people on the forum as real, breathing humans with real feelings, thoughts and emotions. Now, if you want to annoy me, this is the way to go about it.
Since about 12 months after Jim Gow had a great idea & kicked off this site, there have been people (and don't think I'm singling you out here Lee) have felt the need to compare it with other forums.
Let me make this perfectly clear;
I don't give a flying f#ck how other forums are run. I certainly couldn't care less about how foreign forums are run.
When this site kicked off, it was the ONLY Australian VW forum.
If your going to make comparisons, all other Australian VW forums must be compared to this one. Not the other way around. And NEVER to a foreign forum. They just don't count.
As to the question of language, you said it yourself Lee. Aussie Vee Dubbers.
Go for a walk down the main street of Scone, that pink pub used to do a nice counter lunch, & tell me what you hear is different to what I write.
This is, for the most part, how Aussies speak.
Get on a bus or train full of school kids, then try to convince me that MY language may offend THEM.
For those who feel the need to continually compare this forum negatively with others, the answer is so obvious I don't even feel the need to type it.

I don't know how many times I have read some bignoter bignoting about it's moderating on some other site as if it gives them any cred here. Not with me that is for sure.

Folks - calm down.
Aussieveedubbers has a set of rules and the moderators here try as best they can to stick to them. If you don't like a post, click the Report button and we'll take a look at it.
This place has many folks under the age of 18. We opened Bad Attitude to cater for the over 18 type stuff including pictures with nudity. I, and probably most moderators, turn a blind eye to most swearing outside of Bad Attitude as long as it's not out of context for exactly the reasons Spook mentions (it's an Australian forum run by Australians for Australians). Kicking other member's heads in, or being a prick or idiot for the sake of it is not tolerated. That's why it's in the rules that we will warn - then ban if they don't stop - users displaying such behavior. However, we grow the fastest when we act like a family orientated site and every one is friendly. I prefer that and don't mind when the mods stomp on people being dickheads.
