Anybody car to share their experiences with the replacement LED lamps and perhaps even their knowledge of the real Xenon headlights.

I know the LED's a great for vibration and the Xenons are real expensive. Thats about it.

They're using LED tail light assemblies on mine vehicles now. If they stand up to that they can take anything!
Xenon lights, wouldn't have a clue, sorry.

LED's... Speak to Sinecure, he wires up custom LED lights and would be able to tell you all about them!
And as for the Hella etc LED assemblies, the prime movers at work use them and the only time they malfuntion is when there's a blowout (Which destroys the mudguard, brackets, lights, rear bumper etc too...)

u can get xenon HID kits for around the $400 mark now
i was gonna get a 6000k HID kit for the bug until i rode in the neighbours new 325i at night and i must say i really wasnt impressed
my standard (but new) semisealed vw lights with 110/90w bulbs running heavy gauge wiring and relays threw out just as much light and with out that stupid blue tinge

u can get straight drop in LED replacement globes now for tailights, blinker brake lights etc that work really well
only problem with them for blinkers is they dont create enough load on the flasher unit so they blink really quick like one bulb is blown

Which is why you need to run a resistor to earth in alot of cases.

Hi

I bought a Hella Audi A3 Xenon light conversion kit, I'm going to fit these into some 911 headlight shells.

The light modules will be removed and fitted behind some clear early Beetle headlight lenses.

They even came with headlight levelling ECU. Got to love EBay.

This is what the Xenon lights should look like under clear early Beetle headlight glasses.

You can buy 'normal' H4 Hella or Narva PLUS 50
H4 60/55w 12 volt Bulbs that are filled with xenon gas and a special coating on the bulbs to have an increase in Brightness...
50% Brighter on Low beam and 30% Brighter on High beam... No excessive heat and can last up to 65% longer than standard bulbs

If You drive with headlamps on all the time.... One night You will switch on... and nothing... as they blew during the day... this happened to Me recently... [Lancer]
Luckily, I always carry spare bulbs...

I have been using these PLUS 50s in My Lancer for a few years...
they are excellent... and are Legal...

100/90w bulbs are illegal and may only be used on off road vehicles in California.... :P:P

I only have standard H4 Halogen bulbs in New Hella semi sealed beams in My beetle and they are bright enough for Me....
I will change over to the Xenon bulbs next time they are on special....

I've noticed many trucks on the highway now have LED Lamps... I love the way they flash... and brake....[Brighter]

If You use an Electronic flasher unit, it doesn't need any load to flash....
they have an inbuilt relay to flash...
