do you mean torquay?
cruising 69 ·
Yeah sorry...
frog ·
Who bought it from you?
How much did you give it away for?
I saw it sell for 7500 pounds and it lives in the UK which is around $18,500 !
No joke I'm really sure it's your old one, even your pics you put up one here were used for the sale pics over there.
cruising 69 ·
Went down to Melbourne. Sold it for that price. How sure are you?

cruising 69 ·
How do I see if it has gone over there?
frog ·
Take a look here and scroll down till you get to a 68 so they say.
So you sold it for 18,000 or 7500?.
Maybe it's not your old one, just looks similar though. www.outback-kombis.co.uk

Yes it is mine.. Very upset now
cruising 69 ·
This guy is smart... If you look Closely to each photo it is the same backround. Address 39 and white Building in the backround. He come from the UK so he is buying them and doubling he's Money.
frog ·
It will be looked after I'm sure but is sad to see a nice old one go, I'd rather see 70 somethings as there are more of them.
There are others on there I used to see getting around up my way.

so anybody selling their kombi to a guy named shane from torquay in vic ,say goodbye to it as its going os👎 wonder if he has a dealers licence😵💫
karmen ·
prob there is all the olde ones are spoken for...
and what's left is little compared to the population .
One major reason in the whole of Europe is: the snow and ice had to be treated with salt to manage so traffic can flow but it cancerised most of the cars.
Was there in D in June and saw 1 1970 bug and 4 later ones in 4.5 weeks.
There was a 2 L Microbus too.
very rare now in the country they were made in!!!
CAFFINEPUSHERMAN ·
that pink and grey panel was a mate of mines

Still unhappy about all this. All our good kombis that we have spent a lot of time and money into are going to a guy who is shipping Kombis over seas and taking all the credit of all the work that has been done by all of us.
Bizarre ·
cruising 69 wrote:Still unhappy about all this.
Let it go or you will end up bitter and twisted
You accepted the price you sold it for. (i wont say happy as it was obviously worth more)
There is work involved in shipping it over so just accept that is his job
Anyway - be happy some is really gounna look after it for the $$$ they paid
cruising 69 ·
I know I should let it go but what I am unhappy about is that the Number plates which he was supposed to send back to me have know gone over seas. They are lost.

You should have cancelled or suspended the rego or taken the plates off.
cruising 69 ·
He was going to transfer into Melbourne rego and transfer plates up. any way the car is still in my name and I have done a disposable form. So RTA thinks it is still in Australia. He hasn't transfered anything.

$22 for new plates and a small holding fee at the rta would have fixed that,or do what i did made the buyer of my old 4wd pay for the new plates:P
cruising 69 ·
Spoke to RTA the plates can't be made again as they are overseas so they a classed as lost or stolen and they are still in my name... He has not transfered the rego over into he's name yet and it has been 5 months since I sold the car.
The RTA said that they still have details stating that the car is still in Australia.
VolksFolks ·
i rearly dont see the issue, you sold it for a price you asked.
but
i do see a issue hare, how on earth did it get out of the country without having a export notice!, that suck he still has your plates, i do it opposite, buy cars from the UK, i need to inforn the relivent authorities and obtain a export cert, he has brocken the law!
Andy
cruising 69 ·
I don't care about the Price or how much it went for.. The RTA Have basically told me that these plates should have been handed in once car left Aust. I am going to end this Discussion. All I can say is that we are losing Kombis from Aust and they are going over seas with no Transfer slips.
karmen ·
ask the B for return of plates and compensation for loss of unused rego (reclaimable) as well as inconvenience
just tell him you are helping to clear his name for future business in Ozz and with dubbers as well with THE L A W
cruising 69 ·
How when the plates are now in the UK.
VWSlammer ·
In Victoria, from memory you have to fill out a notice of disposal, that makes it official you have disposed of the vehicle. I think it is the same sort of thing as stat dec. Maybe if write to the bloke and ask him for the plates return he might just do that. All this paranoia about "losing' buses is a bit OTT, the world gets smaller every day, making it easier to buy and sell from anywhere. Bring it on is my view.
karmen ·
get on his website
get him to post the plates
cruising 69 ·
I have.. Replies "Sorry went wth car"

Hi everyone, I am over it all. I gave recieved an email from them sayiny the plates went over with the car and they get thrown away. It just shows that word from the mouth don't believe. It leaves me in limbo that the car is stll in my name, as I have already done my bit by the LAW.
Like to thank you all for your concerns.
karmen ·
well see
they are now stolen plates and u know and ALL of us know by whom ha ha
u have the last laugh as he adverted the car with plates on (if i remember correctly)
just sell him another one
at least yer helping Australia to finally export somethin better than uranium!!
MISS VDUB ·
That sucks big time, he is just merely profiteering.
You think you are selling your loved kombi to someone who will love it in return, only to find they only want to make money out of your generosity. Worse thing, its leaving the country...
I can totally understand where you are coming from cruising 69!

We should all try and stop it. (him)

Where there is money involved people are always going to get shafted. I worked with a guy who won lotto in the early 80's. He bought 2 V8 berlina commodores, one wagon, one sedan, same colour, one for him, one for the wife. Nobody was more fastidious with their cars than Alvaro. You never saw them dirty. A few years later he decided to sell the sedan, Sold it dirt cheap to another guy I worked with as they were good mates. Then the prick turned around and sold it for $1000 more the very next month. That was 20 years ago, $1000 was a pretty big deal.
With the prices VW's seem to go for over in the UK, its surprising that there are a few people who want to do the reverse and bring them out here.
It's real shame to think this guy is so dishonourable by not returning the plates.
These things will come back to haunt him. It's Karma!
Spread the word and don't sell to this guy.
cruising 69 ·
OK TO ALL KOMBI OWNERS DO NOT SELL TO A GUY CALLED SHANE. HE WILL JUST MAKE MORE MONEY OUT OF YOUR CAR AND TAKE WHAT EVER IS STILL ON IT THAT YOU WANT RETURNED. IT WILL LEAVE AUSTRALIAN BORDERS
I REST MY CASE.!!!
Twokombies ·
Hey, if he pays me what I am asking, who am I to worry. If I sell it with parts on it I want, I should have taken them off before selling.
This is the real world we are talking about isn't it?
If he then on sells it ANYWHERE for any amount it is not mine any more so where do I get off being critical?
So if the no overseas rule applies does that mean I can't buy one form OS? Or buy parts from OS?
some of you folks need to get out more
cruising 69 ·
And what about when he is surrposed to transfer into his name. Did you think about that. RTA has no documantatio to say it has left Aust. Still in my name...
Bizarre ·
Hang on
When you sell a car in NSW you fill out the top piece of the rego papers and send it in to the RTA. ie Notice of Disposal.
That has his drivers licence name and address.
It is now registered in his name and is all his.
If he does not send in his details with in 14 days he has a problem.
If you have sent this in it will not be in your name anymore.
If he doesnt send it in it will be deregistered.
Nothing really wrong with that. just like letting a car run out of rego.
I assume you have sent this piece of paper in??

Yes I have but RTA Only have my details. They have sent a letter to him but no Reply. As I keep saying the car is still listed as an Australian vehicle and the only details they have are mine.. I have spoken to ppl beyond the RTA and they said If a vehicle leaves Aust. it needs to be reported. RTA know nothing about this.
Great the car has gone OS and I should get over it.. But when someone buys a car you think they do the right thing by handing in the plates and Transfering it in to there name instead of buying it and Shipping it OS the next day.

But surely you have done "the right thing" as far as the RTA are concerned? If he hasn't met his end of the requirements by putting the vehicle in his name with the RTA, then that becomes his problem? It's not your responsibility to ensure he meets his end of the requirements??
cruising 69 ·
Thats true. With the Number plates though my bad by not putting them in hold....
You never trust a buyer or I won't again.
Spellbound ·
You'll just have to put it down to a lesson learned 😉
Twokombies ·
He wouldn't transfer it into his name as he would have to pay stamp duty etc (in Vic anyway) and If I was exporting a car I wouldn't pay that either. The thing is if you have filled out your end of the paperwork you are in the clear. If it is OS then it is not racking up camera fines all over the shop either.
If there are sour grapes because of exporting and onselling then too bad. Did you get the PO's consent to change the station on the radio or fit an aftermarket accessory or 2?
What is good for the goose eh?
