Optimum tyres for a swinger?

Is it better to go low or high profile?
Soft or stiff sidewall?

TIA

id imagine it would depend on the box ratios and the size of the wheel you are running. i think most 60s and 70s vws with 15inch wheels will run fine on a 65 profile - no issues with speedo etc that way and no ratio issues....

what do you mean by swingers? are you making a swing? if so it really wont matter about sidewalls! but a nice wide tyre helps!!

doenst matter dude, what ever tickles your fancy

may change the speedo a little bit if ya go extreme but over all height of the tyre fom 14" to low profile 17" doesnt change too much, only diff is more rubber or more tyre

no, i'm not making a swing for the kids:lol

i was hoping someone would know if any type of tyre can tolerate the camber changes of a swing-axle rear suspension better than others, to improve road holding.

oh now ur talkin!! a larger side wall (softer) will help keep most of the tread on the road, but remember to swap / rotate the tyres not left to right but inside to outside to keep the tyre wear even. it also depends on how serious your camber is, if the tyre arnt so bad you'll get away with more! lower tyre pressures help a little as well. how about goin to a tyre garage for some advise? they are very good! 215/65's on a 15x7 rim on my car works well, its pretty low so the tall sidewall accounts for the negative camber and keeps all the tread on the road. Lower profiles with this width would hold the outer edge off the road unless the axles are horizontal. Its about 1/2 inch or so off the bumpstop so there can't be much camber change over bumps and handles OK, its not like I drive like a circuit racer though.
