Ive found a 75L bug in reasonable condition, and was wondering if you experts out there maybe able to help me decide if its worth buying unregistered for $3800.
Its fairly rust free and in pretty standard condition, and is the model that came with rack and pinion. So what do these usualy sell for, anyone?

the 1303 Super Beetle wasn'd regarded as a good model
it wasn't usually owned by VW Beetle enthusiasts, so most aren't too well looked after....
the large windscreen and non Flat dashboard weren't liked
I think $3800 is too much... IMHO...
especially unregistered...
Any Car unregistered is a gamble.....
try offering $1000.... and see how you go....
best of Luck

Dont listen to the drivel above :blah:blah:blah (i am getting tied of it)
Plenty of die hard beetle guys that want there car tp handle prefer strut based cars.
The 1303 is a great car and the 75L is the pick of the bunch
Make sure it is a 75.
75's had the indicators in the bumper and had 3 point seat bases and an alternator
Snotty - the Green beetle is being injected with steroids as we speak
He came 13th in a field of 54 cars - mainly Porsches

Hi
Lee your Lancer has struts, does it fall apart when it hits a bump, so whats wrong with supers & L bugs?
L bugs and super bugs rule, but if somebody wants or loves another sort of VW thats OK with me as well.
tayloredvw, listen to other peoples opinions but dont discard your own as well, $3000 for the right car is a good price.

i got an s for sale steve, not bad condition ether
tayloredvw ·
yeah well $3500 and its mine. Probably a little expensive but i cant seem to find any up here in bris, so i might lash out.
Plus the body has no rust to speak of and the motors pretty healthy, just has some strange clunking noises like it needs new struts and maybe rear bushes.
barls ·
thats about the price for a straight body

Parts are replaceable and you are going to put adjustable struts in any wau ARENT YOU!!! 😀

In my opinion I would buy at least a car that has a roadworthy and able to be registered straight away. I also recommend getting an independat evaluation mechanically. You can get them done by the RACQ or a VW specialist mechanic may do it for you at his workshop, or onsite if paid a bit more. The money spent on inspecting a few bad ones (money pits) will be better than ending up with a money pit.
I would think that $3-5000 would not be unreasonable for a good RWC L Bug
