Wow! I was woundering if the Holden muscle cars where ever going to attract the big dollars the GT fords were

As of a few months ago the latest sale of a XY GT HO Phase 3 went for $415,000!!
Making it most expensive local car ever sold.

Hi Chris , I went up and viewed the cars prior to auction . There was a nice red ghia coupe up for auction also , do you know how much it sold for ?

Thats what happens when C.U.B's(Cashed Up Bogans) spend money!hehe
Our muscle cars are almost on par with the US Hemi's and Shelby's. Better than money in the bank.

Hi

I remember when the fuel crisis hit in the 70s, you could buy GTs for a 1 or 2 grand, a mate bought a XY/W GT for $1500, it was a real clean car.

My favourite Monaro was the HG 350 GTS.

The one that my bros mate threw out at the tip is no finished W .I have seen it , I think you will recall me telling you about it .

I wonder what your might go for W

Wayne, I gave the motorshow a miss this year. My ghia comment was just in general. While they are beautiful cars in the hands of the right restorer I dont see how a rebodied beetle could be worth that much more when the resto task is so much more difficult.

In the 80's with the advent of brock commodores and the success of more recent toranas, you would have had trouble selling monaros at any money. Has anyone discovered a list of the selling prices from the auction? I'd like to know what the '1956' number plate went for... see how far my 50 cent bid limit was exceeded.

Yes, I think that was owned by my local butcher's father, who asked me what it was worth about a year ago. I told him it was worth about $80K - that's what I thought - and that is the offer he accepted from an Australian muscle car sale company, who on-sold it the next week for $400K plus.

The c*nts.

That company Im sure have shafted a hell of alot of people. They are also the ones that have pushed the prices up for Ozi muscle cars to what it is now....

Free enterprise I guess...

I am now going to sit in the corner and sob myself to sleep.
I sold my 1968 HK 186 GTS Monaro for $4,000.
Granted it was a few years ago.

If only..................................:cry

The red Ghia sold for $15,500.
Did anyone get to look at it?

WOW! I stand corrected! I guess $220K does'nt seem like that much against US$4.1mill!!! Below is an interesting read...

Re the comment earlier about XY Phase 3 GT's....... at a burnout competition a couple (no more than three) years ago, I witnessed some rocket scientist snap an axle when he entered his Phase 3 (genuine) in the burnout comp....... some people have no idea.

Still, I guess its only a falcon.
