Drove past Cranbourne Racecourse yesterday. Gotta say, not muh shade by the looks of it, just lots of open grass. Nowhere near the character of the Yarra Glen track. Just my 2 cents.

O well just take your own shade it's all good.:kiss

Quote from the latest Vic VW Club mag re the location for the 2006 DoVW.
"We have seen our event moved from place to place over the last few years as the event has grown and last years DOTVW at Yarra Glen filled the ground to capacity and at 1pm the gates had to be closed. Cranbourne race course is the perfect venue for our event this year with all parking for VW vehicles within the racecourse. There is more than ample room for all car show entrants, swappers and visitors to park inside.
The venue includes undercover trader sites for over 40 VW traders as well as the new car displays. We have also invited some new diverse and exciting trade displayers to this event including clothing retailer’s automotive service providers and many interstate VW businesses."
Unquote.
There was not a lot of "shady areas" available for the swappers or car show entrants at Yarra Glen last year.
The thing is people's, the DoVW is getting bigger and better attended every year so its outgrown the smaller venues. Sure there might be better venues than the Cranbourne Race Course, but this is the venue of chioce for 2006.
A venue selected by the club comittee, a group of people who were elected by current members of the VW Club of Victoria to represent the 400 plus members of the VW Club Vic. Also remember that we have the Karmann Ghia club attending the DoVW 2006 also. We didnt have them last year and Yarra Glen was chocca's.
So Hertz please dont take this the wrong way and with the greatest respect, how about keeping the comments about the coming event positive please and make some informed comments on the location after the event. !!
You might even like to put your hand up and join the Vic VW club comittee and get on the DoVW organisation crew for 2007. Create change from the inside if you like.
My 2cents worth. 👍

Fair enough Dean, just better bring a hat thats all. There will be no shortage of room down at Cranbourne thats for sure, the place is huge. Do you know in what section of the grounds we will be.

Cheers Hertz, I hope we need to bring hats and sunscreen too mate cause I want the weather to be as kind to us as it has been for the last couple of DoVW's.
Also hope that the one day maybe we out grow a venue the size of the Cranbourne RC cause that will mean the VW scene is alive and well in Vic. Its the people that make the event.
Good question about the section of the grounds we are using too. I will try and get a location map posted on here over the next few days. We are also getting some smicko new signage done up to direct people to the various areas.
