gee it didnt take long..
youtubed already..

pete wood ·

there's something kind of sad about the whole situation really. He did so much damage, but so have the americans. :o

squizy ·

It's a pity David Hicks can't get such a fast trial.

shaihulud ·

True squizy, but I doubt if Hicks would want the same outcome.

Schmoburger ·

Good riddence to the mongrel... :puke

And my two bob on Hicks... he is entitled to a speedy trial, and if found innocent then may he leave the court a free man... if found guilty however may he suffer the same fate as Saddam, along with any other individual found to have been closely assosiated with terorist organisations. Regardless of what country a person comes from, a terrorist is a terrorist even if they do have an Aussie twang to their voice... :o

ANywho.. I'm deviating from the subject at hand so my rantings shall cease forthwith...

bugboymatt ·

I was wondering if the HOFF was gonna ride in in KITT and save him from the stringing up he got !!

shaihulud ·

In Ivanhoe, Sir Walter Scott had the mother of King John say of her own son, "Beware of powerful men. They breed unspeakable whelps."

Saddam Hussein was captured alive to be tried and executed, his frightfully wicked sons were not. Their behavior was so shockingly awful that an unofficial edict was sent out to kill them out of hand, even if they surrendered or were captured alive.

fekkinell ·

So when is it Georges turn to go to the gallows for crimes against humanity? :kiss

kombidaze ·

the biggest nastiest, most henious criminals walk the earth scott free and get paid rather hansomely to do so. the problem arises when young kids like schmoburger believe the stinking fetted bullshit they are fed by the mass media to be a big meal of juicy sirloin steak.
as for suddam hussein its a pity that such a criminally insane person has now in the eyes of millions of iraqies been made into a martyr and hero.

ancientbugger ·

Kombidaze I agree with you wholeheartedly. Saddam Hussein was executed for the murders of -I think 184 people, I know one person is too many but when you hear about the killings that were commited in his name and numbers in excess of 100,000 I've heard in the ten years of his rule of Iraq then why hang him for such a small number? The reason is is that all of the killings during his days in office were with the knowledge of the western countries that were supplying him with the weapons and training and who turned a blind eye to it all because they wanted someone to counteract the threat of Iran. Now also 100,000 over 10 years is 10,000 a year obviously but since the invasion by the US, the UK and Australia nearly 700,000 Iraqis have been killed in 3 years! That's over twenty times as many per year, not only that but Iraq has now split into factions of Shi-ite and Sunni moslems and even though Saddam was one or the other (derrr!) he made sure his government was not dominated by one or the other. If I was an Iraqi at least knowing if I kept my mouth shut I could generally expect to get home at the end of the day and the old days of Saddam would really be the good old days now the poor buggers don't know what,s round the next corner. The whole reason behind the war against Saddam was never for the reasons given and the real reasons could not and should not be aired on a forum such as ours. Just a quick addendum, just when is George and his mates Tony and John getting topped!!!

bond ·

well written kombidaze.

Ich fahre ein Kdf ein Tag ·

Shi-ites where in power under Saddam, and now because he is gone and Iraq have a very weak republic or democracy/ more like anarchy the Sunni's are thinking it is there turn. From what I gather Sunni's are more aggressive (but you would be too, Labor should try it some time, when you have been out of office for a while).
Iraq was inevitably going to full into the mess it is in whether Saddam was knocked off or not.
Iraq is complicated, both the moslems are fighting of the "christian" freedom fighters (America) but also fighting themselves, so they cant win the war in Iraq unless they kill everyone there. At this rate that is what they will do, and noone will live there ever again.

Schmoburger ·

Exactly when did I start feasting on mass media dog turds thinking they were a porterhouse?!?!? 🤪

I'd personally rather eat Playschool, as even it probably contains more fact than the ABC News or SMH... :P

h ·

oh careful now..
little 'prick' jonnie has had sedition laws in effect now and such ranting could get the likes of saddams end upon free willing people..
just a word to be aware of..
like saddams dictictorial ways jonnie in effect feels its warranted as his 'power' has been bestowed upon him by the 'free thinking'** people and not taken in a bloodbath like many other oppressors..

** free thinking - as determined by the 'good' people at pbl and news corp - long live the abc

koolkarmakombi ·

fighting for peace is like copulating for virginity

I agree with Pete, its all kinda sad and depressing. Was stuffed, still is stuffed and no unstuffed future in sight.

Old world views fighting for the right to keep fighting as they have since time began. New world views trying to develop new models of societly in an ancient sectarian world.

I try not to think about it. Its not the most screwed up place in the world, just the most media driven. Dafur, West Africa anyone? Oh, no oil = no interest = no media....

Flying VW ·

They should of just left Saddam locked up in a cold concrete rat infested cell 24 hrs a day for the rest of his life.

frenzix ·

one day george bush will also have to answer for his actions.

jonnyb ·

where did ancientbugger get 700,000 from

bugeyedbabe ·

not sure where ancientbugger got his figures...but this link will take you to a group who not only record iraqi, but also us and coalition deaths...military and civilian.

pretty bad when you realise the figures are actually names of a person....aus is recorded with two deaths....second from the top is uk with approx 137 (??) and then top of list...america...with 3000

and the iraqs...well....read the list and u get the idea of where the figure 700,000 have come from

And yes, i knwo this list is simply of deaths they think were caused as a result of action/counter action of the invasion...not necessarily from the americans own hand. And yes, arguments will state that the deaths may have occured (and perhaps even more) without American invading.

I am simply providing the link.

You shouldn't judge the guy, only judge his actions... we don't know what kind of background this guy came from. (Suddam that is)

according to the papers, he had a crappy, violent upbringing, he was repeatedly beaten as a child... could you really blame him for how he turned out to be? I actually feel sorry for suddam, in regards to what that bloke could have become if he was able to have a decent upbringing. It could have been a beautiful, successful life. He could have become an honorable liberator or hero. 🙁

DubCrazy ·

personaly i dont give a crap if he lived or died but what u just said is utter crap chris.. what u are basicly saying is if i beat the shit out of my son its ok for him to become a murderer and have everyone pity and feel sorry for him just cuz he had a shit childhood??

my old man was a raving pisshead for most of my younger life he trested us all like shithouse.... that give me the right to treat others the same??? oh for the record he quit the booze and i have so much respect for him how...15 years and not a drop.... anyhows back to the subject.... everyone has there opinion but please make it a valid reason not just dribble, love him hate him but dont make excuses for him!!!!

steff.................................

bajachris88 ·

um, i didn't say i approved of his actions...
i'm saying we have no right to judge him, we don't know his background, we can only judge his actions...

btw, stop contadicting urself and going ape shit when u say people are entitled to an opinion yet u argue me to hold one.

DubCrazy ·

no right to judge? er he puts himself into the position he did he will be judged just like every other human on the planet. everybody judges everyone else ... its human nature even if its only look at him he had long hair or a kombi he must be a surfie.. every day we all judge ... put your self in the position he did then he will be judged!

as for going ape, u truly have no idea if u think me passing a comment is going ape i feel very sorry for u.... and i said VALID opion not just making excuses ... he commeted the crimes so he had to accept the punishment just as we all do in every day life

steff.................

bugeyedbabe ·

chris...when he was execurted...it was for his actions....

not whether or not he was a good father, loved his wife, good child.......(thus who he was)

but his actions as a leader...what he did.....exactly as u asked ppl to do......judged his actions...and for most of us, we found them (the actions) horrendous...i thats why he was hanged....he was judged on his actions

57 Cal look ·

One thing for some of you too have a think about, regardless of how you feel about Saddam, what he did & how he died, and how the western world removed him from his position in Iraq or even the motivations that lead the western world into Iraq.
Put all of that aside for one moment, and contemplate this…

When the US lead forces pull out of Iraq and they will go eventually, imagine for a moment how nasty the next guy who seizes power there, will have to be … he is going to have to beat out all the rival competition and over through what ever government forces may stand in his way and force that country into line and continue too squash any that would appose his rule.

Whoever this person may be, they will make Saddam look like a pussycat, and they will become a real threat in that region of the world.

And that is the truly disturbing thing about this all…:o

bugeyedbabe ·

not necessiarly (can u tell...im an optimist?)

the leaders that followed after hitler and starlin weren't as bad...were they?

the fact we don't know the name of the leaders that followed them in the same way as we know stalin (sorry if spelling is incorrect) or hitler... would suggets that perhaps they were a little better...even if only a 'little'...so we can hope the next leaders in iraq will be better to

let's face it...hope is generally all we have when it comes to the future...

shaihulud ·

One of the problems with Saddam is that he was a standard model eastern potentate.

Since the times of the great Persian, Medean and Hittite kings such as Hamurabi, Ashurbanipal, Nebuchadnezzar, Sirus, and Xerxes the people in that region have been governed by men who were just like Saddam. It's what they have always had and it's what they expect of their rulers.

In the Middle East kindness towards someone who is not a member of your family or tribe or relgion, is looked upon as weakness.

Whoever follows Saddam must be every bit as hard, brutal, cruel and wicked as he was, or they will not be allowed to remain.

Democracy cannot be imposed from above. It can only grow from below with the people demanding it and supporting it. Try as they might the US, Britain and Australia will not leave a legacy of democracy in Iraq. The people may want it, but those who would govern them cannot tolerate it, and so the fragile flower will be allowed to bloom. It will crushed and the Iraqis will have another bastard in charge of them.

What they will have is another standard model eastern potentate.

shaihulud ·

Damn it! I really should read and edit this stuff before I post it.

The last should read------- and so the fragile flower will not be allowed to bloom. It will be crushed-----

background should never mitigate responsibility.

We should judge someone, as they are a responsible for their actions.

However who judges the judges?

I have some Saddam commemorative t-shirts for sale on ebay...

Bit tight around the neck, but they hang well.

frenzix ·

link?

bus914 ·

its interesting how he was done in by his accomplices. those who financed his regime through kick backs, and those who armed him during the Iran - Iraq war.

regardless how many people he killed, it doesn't give another man the right to kill him.

whatnow ·

interesting topic.

was saddam judged and sentenced by an iraqi convined court or a US conveined court?

if it was the iraqi's who are we to comment, BUT if not how can we do to someone what we are convicting them of?

personaly i'd like to see Bush serving life with no parole, Howard aswell (Major while we're at it).
i see Bush as the biggest terrorist of our time, bar none. (i would say put them all up against a wall but i don't belive in corpral punishment)

i wish i was constitutional/international laywer to see if there were charges that could be brought against howard. if treason is off the cards, at least missaproapreation of gov funds, murder, umpteen thousand charges of assualt with a deadly weapon (you don't get a much deadlier weapon than a SAS soldier) etc. a little political accountability...
while we are dishing stuff out how about an OAM for howards inteligence advisor (can't remember his name) who quit them came public re no WMD's in iraq... standing up for what you think is best for your country without regard to what it will cost you personaly.

end rant for now...
