I recently saw an early type 3 for sale on EBAY [I think??]

and it had twin horn grills in the centre front apron below the front bumper...

was this normal??

and do all early type 3s have them???

Only VW I knew had these was Karmann Ghias...

OK..
thanks for that.. EMPI,

so its only the very early type 3s that have them....
so they will be getting very rare nowadays...

Yes, I've seen the rubber boots that make sure ALL the water goes into the horns in Karmann Ghias...
well, that wasn't really VWs fault...
probably designed [although approved by VW]
by Karmann ....

My 65 has a small grille section just above the spare wheel well. I never really understood the purpose of such a grille as my horn was an aftermarket one attached to the bumper itself. I would be curious to see pics of how the original horn would be mounted in that section if anyone would be happy to post em.

earlier type 3s have a single support near the spare tyre this is where the horn bolts to , 64ish on has a double support.
