congrats! you'll probably meet quite a few of my friends there... all really nice people 🙂 sometimes i wish i was studying photography instead of chemistry, seeing as how i pay alot more attention to my cameras and darkroom technqiue than what im supposed to be paying attention to!

you should join the flickr brisbane meetup group and come out and join us on a few outings, otherwise, give me an email and lets go out and have a bit of a photofest... im always up for going thru a few rolls of film 🙂:thumb

really? cool! i dunno what yr ill be going into, ive done 2 years down in sydney but it was a different course so i guess it depends on how much credit they want to give me.
once im up in brisbane ill join that group! im keen to take some photos around brisbane, i took a roll of film at the mt coot-tha (if thats how you spell it??) lookout but the shots didn't turn out great so i'd like to try again at different spots.
for the course you need to own a digital SLR though, so I need to get my hands on one of those...which im not too sure about, im still a lover of film, but I have been using a digital SLR over the last week doing some work experience with the photographers for the local newspaper and im enjoying using the camera, so maybe they won't be as bad as i had once thought.
anyway! see you in brisbane!

I got into uni too- ive already done an arts degree, i applied for graduate diploma of education- in art and history high school teaching... but didnt get it, i got my 2nd preference of primary school teaching which im still happy with cause i like little kids better anyways!!

Thats really strange that they sent you to primary. I applied for primary and they sent me to secondary.

For everyone who has been and gone to uni... Do you feel that local students are hard done by when compared to full fee paying foreign students? When I was there I was constantly annoyed at little things that I thought was shithouse (and I wasnt alone) Then Ted Steele who was an internationally renkown professor came out and stated the bleeding obvious and was sacked for doing so. Fortunately for him he won his unfair dismissal case but I dont believe anything changed.

Sorry, I should add that I dont think I was ripped off in anyway, dont want to scare the crap out of anyone starting at UOW. I was just annoyed that for the the shitload of money that fee paying students handed over, they were given a free ride. In a lot of cases I dont think they paid enrolment fees but degree fees. Jealousy perhaps. Mind you they were well and truly ripped off with the amount they paid. Dont fight the system though, just roll with it. It came back to bite me on the arse. Only thing you have to worry about is aircon that only works in winter. :P Take lots of sunscreen each day. Lunch on duckpond lawn is spectacular.
