Having just taken possession of our dual cab kombi...
I'd love to see some ideas of what wheels people have put on their bay window kombis. If necessary, tell us what adaptations you did to put the wheels on.

Second hand Audi 15" alloys. Bolt straight on. Good clearance from wheel arches to allow the Kombi to be lowered, especially at the rear. Slight reduction in turning circle - steering stops had to be wound out a couple of turns to prevent tyres rubbing on standard full lock.
$100 each. Centre caps from local tyre store (front caps had the locating tabs ground a touch to fit the tight gap between wheel centre and grease cap). Wheel studs off a Landcruiser.

They are aftermarket Mercedes Alloys as fitted by Canterbury Rd tyres in Bayswater. I will say I was not impressed with the service, the wheels look nice.

Special 14" X 5.5" steel wheels, especially modified to fit the Bay Window Kombi... Adaption comprises lining up the studs with the holes...

You can get repro Gas Burners in 5x112 pcd now. Bout the same price as a good set of repro brms. I think www2.cip1.com have them.

These are some 17x7.5 rims that I have been machining to suit kombi, there $300 set of 4.

So is 5 x 112 PCD the correct fitting for a kombi? I'm getting conflicting info about what is exactly right, and what 'just about' fits...
Plus the tyre people don't seem to have a CLUE about stuff this old.

5 x 112 PCD is correct. Mercedes and Audi use this pattern also

the other thing to consider is centre bore diameter.
I have Passat 17" rims on my T3 which are 5x112pcd but had to machine out about 2mm from the centre bore of the rims to get them to fit.

Also to consider is whether the wheel studs are long enough for the wheels you wish to fit, understanding that the original studs were designed for a pressed steel wheel centre.
You can get longer studs.
Also the angle of the nut face can be different on some wheels.

Yup! Jay surely has - well - Mal has, which equates to pretty much the same thing. (note - don't go for VW bloke - go for Non-VW bloke and turn him to the dark side!!)

i have a set of the same rims as phat bugs sitting in my garage, they hacve tires and everything, but im waiting until its lowered before i fit them. also gives time for the tires to cure exxxtra hard!

馃お I feel all strange but I honestly really really luv stock wheels on kombis, beetles etc.... they are so...um Vee-dub, I am sorry, but don't see any ricers etc slammin on sum chromed dub rims.... I don't care if I am cast out to the wilahness.. I think they are funky in thier own right, so bulbous, round n shiney they just shout "VEE DUB".. mmm yum :thumb (sorry jay, ur a sweetie don't mean harm, nor flamin, just voicing my opinyun!) :bounce plus surplus hubs have multiple uses and the origins are instantly recognisable 馃憤
