Hi , I'm thinking of installing an oil pump/filter set up (AS 36 case) and just wondered if anyone has any observations or comments they may wish to share with me.
There are etractors on the car and I'm wondering if it will even fit to be quite honest, but that asside ???
Cheers , Al .

This is a Bruck which I got for Mick Motors, I gave it a good clean up before I installed it. Removed dags from the casting (to improve flow) and aluminium filings left in the pump from machining. Always use a good filter(like the one pictured) as they take a lot of pressure. Photos show clearance.

The solution the mackaymanx suggested is one option - another is to go for a true full-flow system, where the output from the pump is directed through the filter, but is fed back in through a drilled and tapped hole in the case, not back through the other side of the pump - I've attached a diagram that I found somewhere (may have been on this forum for all I know). I suppose the only problem with this option is where to mount the filter ?

You just need to see if there is enough clearance for the oil filter ...
if its too close to the exhaust system it will heat the oil up
which is something You don't want...

My Son uses the very long spin on oil filters...
on His engines...

Why? it's simply another source of leaks...

These fit with extractors, not with a standard exhaust.
Not likely to leak if the pump is sealed properly (as per normal). Not real common to get a leak from an oil filter either.
These are a good way to add a little capacity to the oil and improve the filtering of your oil by a lot.
Shouldnt use them much over 6000rpm, and best to use a quality made one with a relief valve rather than the cheapo ones out there.
I would use a golf oil filter on it.
