As most of you know i partially run the AUS syndicate page on the main site of Hoodride.com. For those of you who dont know how to find it just go to the Hoodride main page http://hoodride.com and on the right is the list of international syndicates, click on AUSTRALIA or follow this link: http://www.hoodride.com/nucleus/AUS.php
For 2007 i want as much input as possible from anyone whose interested in the scene. lets work together to expand this growing community. Photos, videos, news of anything such as small shows, non VW related shows (rods etc), gatherings plus ongoing projects, feature rides, barn finds, cool photography, graffiti etc and if you fancy yourself as a bit of a DJ, then some HoodCast material! basically anything you may think is of interest.
Obviously not everything you send will get posted but the more i get the more will and this important for the growing HoodRide comunity...
I don't mean everybody send something now and then never again, i want a constant flow of material as time goes by please.
So get sending when ever your ready and lets get the AUS HoodRide scene moving!

I am a graphic designer in the film and tv industry with a camera a computer and a spray can.......if that helps.

Permitian to come aboard
im a member of hoodride and drive 1. its a sandy coloured 71 square, My friends say ive got a problem but i just dont think its low enough. I live on the goldie and theres heaps of specamins just begging to be snapped. A new camera is on its way so hope i can help

hope this works this is my old 66 When i lived in England before i emagrated here i had to sell it it was nice!! It held up quite nice against the buggy

Hoodride was a scene and a vibe. It's a pity it didn't keep on kicking on over here. I believe the vibe is still alive though. For cruises though in Sydney if you're interested, check out the Speed Bump Hit Squad.

Hoodride went belly up for a few reasons.... Most revolve around the shitty behavior that Derrick got up to.... In the end he was taking a lot of drugs, not getting shit done, not updating the site and owed a lot of people a lot of money.... And the site itself got taken over by a bunch of ball swingers that didn't even own VW's!! As always, there is plenty more to the story, but its all in the past now.... If you are looking to hook up with other like minded Aussie dubbers with a similar angle, check out the Melburg forum (http://melburgluft.com).... Most of the guys spend time here and there and few other places as well... Word gets around....

sandblaster/paint stripper/brake fluid & leave it outside for a week or 2 should have similar results 🤪

yeah sandblasting is a must i want the hole thing bare metal then im going to soak it in a pool of vinegar couple of days dry it then a bath of really salty water if needed.
I was just seeing if theres a chemical that makes it look like that.
Ive rusted my bike(rat style) the natural way and it doesnt look powdery like these two pics thats the look im trying to get.
now to find a dona vw golf mk3 hood .

Google it.... There is loads of info on how to create a genuine rust finish that is actually safe.... I have used a similar process on some steel sculptures I have done over the years.... I have galvanized the structures first, then applied the rust paint finish to make the corrosion happen.... It's actually an iron oxide component that has been added to a conventional paint... There are many manufacturers out there.... Doing it this way gives you the look, but not the problems.... But it's not hardcore like the hoodies of old....

To keep the rusty finish like that, put some WD-40 on there or some fish oil. But it'll pretty much never stop rusting once it's started.

Been to Bunnings lately?? there's a rust-effect paint for painting ceramic pots and outdoor furniture.
Probably easier than stripping....do it over the top of paint and if you change your mind down the track, strip it. At least the metal underneath will have more of a chance.
