Off to Dallas Tx - I\'m back

Well - i leave for Dallas Tx on Friday.

Have already checked and there aint much hapening on the VW scene.

Whatever - never been there before.

There is a LARGE air cond trade show - and somebody had to go.
I voluntered to do the hard yards.

10 days to go exploring.
Should find SOMETHING to amuse myself besides looking at the "knoll"

apparently some of the wreckers yards are cool, but I don't think you'll have enought time to get out to many of them to wander about and drool/scavenge.

I spent a weekend in Dallas a couple of years ago. Great place. Make sure you check out Billy Bobs Texas Honky Tonk in Fort Worth (town right next door to Dallas.)

All the real live cowboys and cowgirls go out to Billy Bobs on a Saturday nite. With a full size rodeo ring inside this place and 2 massive stages and dance floors, its a site you will not forget.

Enjoy Dallas Baz, its gotta be better than Houston.....

Try and take a day and go for a drive outside the city and visit some of the smaller coutry towns... that might be more interesting.

But Billy Bobs sounds like a place I would like to visit....

Interesting place.
Only saw 2 air cooled VW's 🙁

Went to Billy Bobs - but it was Thursday.
Cowboys only come out on the weekend. Wild bar though. Reckon it would REALLY kick off on the weekend.

Saw the Dallas Stars loose to the Pitsburg Penguins.
Had some amazing propper mexican food.

Went out to a small town called Sweetwater. WOW....... talk about back yard Texas.
My mate does wind turbines and there ware over a 1000 there.

2 things would improve the place though.
Get rid of the red indicators on the rear.
Go metric.

We had a car. Driving was not too bad. Except when we had stopped outside Sweetwater to look at some turbines. Drove off and had been going a good 10 mins. Looked up and there was this F 3500 in the dust. Didnt even have time to hit the horn.
Our driver was on the left. :duh
We were ok after that. 🙂

I was there for a newspaper Trade Show a couple of years ago. BIG STEAKS.

You will be asked by every waitress if you want to order a "Super Salad". Reply that you would like Soup please, but no Salad.

JFK Museum is good. Stand in the window where Lee Harvey Oswald was meant to have been and you will be convinced that he was either set up or the best shot that ever lived.
