Hi all,
I'm building a rotisserie for my Splitty Single Cab and was wondering if anyone here had done the same and knows where the centre of gravity is. I'm guessing about 3 inches below the head light. Or if anyone has a picture of a Single Cab on a spit, that would help to. Thanks......

That would be great. I'll PM you my e-mail address.
Thanks dak002. I had a look at the post but I'm faiirly sure that it's a bus on that spit. A ute has a C of G alot lower.

Hey Adam
your PM didnt come thro
my digi cam batteries were flat so i had to take these with my phone so sorry bout the quality
hes had single cabs, panels etc on this he said it doesnt matter but the best height is 1.3m for the swivel point
that is a good working height and allows it to fully rotate upside down
the swivel should be level with the VW badge on the front
hes about to make one for bay window kombis
hes happy to talk to u on the phone about it so just email/msn me joelmiller82 at hotmail dot com
and i'll give u his number

Nice job with the photos. Pretty good for a mobile. Does it spin easily. It looks like the weight is fairly low. I've sent you an email. Thanks again.
Adam.....
Joel ·
no probs adam
it doesnt take much effort for one bloke to spin it
getting it mounted on there tho is another mission

I think you will find that if you make pivot point at the lower hole for VW logo it wont be far wrong
Mine is about 50mm above that now

Is your's a ute beerdoc
beerdoc ·
No its a panel
If your worried make it adjustable 2eze

This is the pic I modeled mine off
This is a twin cab and he states its bottom heavy
57 Panel ·
If it's bottom heavy and a twin cab my ute should have a lower C of G than that. From that picture I'm thinking of making the pivot between the head lights. I made a fair bit of progress today until I forgot about that thing called Duty Cycle and my welder stopped. It's running again now that it's cooled down but I couldn't be bothered going back out.
beerdoc ·
Between the lights should be the go I would not go below centre though
Good to here your cycling again:beer

I've nearly finished the spit. I've gone for a different idea. It works well and is really easy to put the bus on. I'll post some pics when I can resize them.

how does that work? have you got closer pics of the points at where the circle meets? how does it lock into place.. looks good

It sits on rollers. I'll take some more pics tomorrow. I've used rubber rollers but I'm going to machine up some steel ones to make it roll a bit easier.

I'm using rubber rollers at the moment but I'm going to replace them with steel one to make it turn easier. I made it as low as possible to make it easy to fit to the spit on my own and so I can take it to the sand blasters when the time comes. It can be done with a good sized trolley jack.
