Sweet, nothin like an old telecaster for pure sound quality. I got a 90s strat delux and i have to force myself not to look on ebay all the time. Im developing a strange love for old rickenbackers and vintage synthisizers. Its a sickness. Nothing compares to the feel of a real Fender and I mean nothing. Once youve been playing it for a while, anything you play, be it a chord or a scale, becomes so easy, then you pick up a jap crap thing and the neck feels a mile wide, the fretboard feels like sandpaper, and the tone is nonexistent. You should be proud, I know I was when I got my first usa fender. Josh.

cant go past the ONIX for pure sound........馃槈

Having studied classical music (guitar) at uni for 4 years Ive learnt to appreciate a fine instrument. All my guitars I have had made for me by an ozy guitar maker called Jim Williams. I love his intruments.. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Good on you for your new tele. There my fav fender as well.

This tele is made in Mexico, but it's a lot better than the mexican p-bass I got about 5 years back in terms of build quality. I think most of the hardware is USA too. But I fixed the P-bass. I fitted a hipshot D-tuner and sent it to Jeff Malia (bass wizard) who set it up and replaced the nasty mexi pickups with old school passive Di'mazios. FLick the hipshot for an instant drop D and get ready to turn up to 11. Can you say RRROOOCCKKK!!!! 馃憤

I always thought you couldn't go past ONIX for warped necks, paint so thick it cracked and the worst shielding known to man. But if you call that pure sound....werlll, go for your life...I guess... :duh:

Wonderfull guitar mate!

My mate just got himself a new gibson SG, Insurance job from his broken Les Paul

His daughter left the case unlocked, he picked it up and the guitar fell out, Say goodbye to the head stock! snapped right off. Very depressing considering the Les Paul was the nicest guitar I have EVER seen

Congratulations Pete. A new guitar is the best thing. I know Jeff Mahlia too. He's great.

words cannot describe the magic that Jeff can work on a guitar...and that's besides him being one of the nicest guys I know. 馃檪

Picked it up today...and it's lovely. But wow, electric guitar seems like such a toy after playing double bass and bass guitar. I'm trying to teach myself how to play the solo for "Smoke on the water" and "Highway star". Geez, I feel like I've got sausages for fingers. 馃檮

Anyone got any tips on good classic solos to learn for beginners?..or should I say, bass players pretending they can play guitar solos. 馃憤

Bizarre 路

My son has written out some solos for Cradle of Filth if that is any help Pete 馃憤

Oasis 路

Try some of Dave Gilmour's solos on Wish you were here, animals, Dark Side Of The Moon etc... Also what about Hotel California (just don't play it backwards):P

Gotta love the Fenders.I would like a 62 Jaguar but they aren't in my league.Altho i did score a very nice guitar.I was in a music shop when a lady was asking a trade in price for her husbands old electric on a acustic suitable for a learner. She opened the case and i heard the people behind the counter gasp and then tell her they'll give her a guitar and 800 bucks.I leaft when she left and asked her about the guitar and after checking some books and making her a fairer offer i'm the proud owner of a early Gibson Les Paul goldtop. The ones with the soapbar pickups. The tone is awsome!
Some of the Gunners/ Slash's lead licks are easy to learn.:o

That is a thing of beauty Pete. Congrats.
As a bass player you'll like what I picked up only yesterday. (Must be guitar buying season). Mark Hoppus Fender Precision in Surf Green, (always wanted a Surf Green bass), with Jazz Alder body, Seymour Duncan "Basslines" beefy split pick up and one pot only....volume!

Lovely old school grunt there. My bro in law has a 70s precision. Poor old thing has been quite knocked about...but the sound it puts out is stunning. It's quite crazy that a single pickup instrument could have so many different sounds, but there you go. I spose it depends what music your hands make. I don't blame you for going without a tone dial, I think I've used mine about twice. The rest of the time it's set flat out and the best sounds you get out an electric instrument is with the volume flat out too. Have fun, I bet it sounds great. I guess you grind it with a pick if you're into blink. What amp are you playing it through?

Lohoon, sounds like you made a score. Les Pauls are worth upwards of $4k in good nic these days as I understand. And I prefer soapbars too. My bro has a 1958 ES125t with them. Nicer than humbuckers I reckon.

Mrscooter, it's kinda funny. Never thought I'd end up a fender endorsee but here I am, precision in one hand and a tele in the other. I guess I'm getting old and sentimental. I can take or leave strats though, nice guitars, but they don't do anything for me. I'd love a valve amp, but if I asked for one at the mo I'd be finding a new place to sleep. The missus is not entirely happy about the tele.

I'll try and take a pic of my fenders so you can all have a perve.

pete wood 路

here you go.

BTW the second pic is of my hipshot D tuner on the bass. It's an awesome gadget that allows you to drop to a D by flicking the lever on the bottom of it. I'm not sure how exy they are now, but I got it for my 21st and I'm never giving it away. I have a nice five string and that's really good, but the hipshot on a 4 string is somehow cooler. great for playing RATM, sound garden and Audioslave.
