well, #1000, im honered.. have not even posted yet.. guess ill tell you why im here.. I have 3 vw's (beetles) and lookin for me 4th ;p , my 57 is in good nick and is my next restore, found it in a barn in tumberumba, my 63 is my current restore, getting finished... sslloowwllyy, and the other is a 58, now thats just for parts, (ill get pics later) .. hopefully the 'prize' will be an oval 😀 , cheers

howdy - its about 5hr or so south of sydney, the old guy said 'i got this old vw in me barn, want it?' i had been searching for ages so i drove down for a look see, and snapped it up for $500, and it included an old 58 - well beyond repair,.. Just need to pull me fingerout and finish me 63!!!!! thing is, i drove down cause he said it was an oval, but hey, i could not leve the baby there, i could not resist it!!! i hope to post some pics soon and get some comments.

Seems I used to spend a lot of time in the bad attitude forum and I remember spending a LOT of time in the chat room.

Participation in this forum seems to be dwindling, I think Facebook is partly to blame for that. I make a concious effort to post in this forum as well as Facebook.

If people don't post in here there will be nothing to read so members wont be coming back

Totally agree, but I wouldnt push blame on FB, its just an easier media atm. If photos were as easy to post here as on Facebook then I'd be here more often. resizing seems to old school, and frustrating for us kids these days :P

I agree about the photo issue, I go to another VW forum (SBO) and you can load up to 1000k in photos to each post. 3 photos per post is a pain at times.

Other VW forums I go to have no photo posting option so you have to use photobucket or similar.

not sure how that works as fb limit your post if they are not seen often enough.

they then make you pay if you want more viewers to your post.

I see less and less people on fb than before, or maybe I'm not seeing their posts either they didn't pay or I didn't look at hem often enough?


Anyway, is it really that bad there is less people here? I see it as a good thing. I am on one forum where the members are very little mostly to do with advance stuff that weeds out dickheads because they have no understanding 😂

But everyone get to know everyone to the point of face to face too. Good people, and nothing is out of hand.

Re pic posting, there was once a time that I had no trouble at all posting pics here but out of the blue I was getting messages telling me they were too big, even though I had previously posted the exact same pic on AVD, gave me grief for ages then I found a setting on my camera that was meant for pics that were to be emailed, now I use that setting for anything that I may want to post here, still a problem though if I take a pic that I have no intention of posting but then decide to post. Plenty of people have tried to guide me on the paths of righteousiness re resizing but it's all lost on me, never seems to work. 😬😬

Facebook is a much easier medium so I think a lot of forum activity is switching over to there...

I don't post often but still daily driving my bug 🙂 I've also noticed as I've been here over 10 years now (scary thought!) that slowly there is more of a switch to people having new daily drivers the air cooled dubs being weekend only cruisers which could also contribute to the drop in activity. Also this used to be the only place but now there are multiple aussie vw forums which cater to their own niche group.
