VW Mechanics in Perth?

Hi there. I am looking at reconditioning my old 1969 VW 1500 motor, and was wondering if any of the Perth Dubbers know of a reputable mechanic to carry out the work (i.e. to a high quality). Please help.

billy at volkswest is good, he's kenwick side, his numbers in the book.
or mike in o'connor at volkshop (freo side) look for vw wreckers (alex) in the book, but its deff mike you need to chat to! ok? cheers

You could also try Brett and Jon at Balcatta VW and Suburu - they used to be almost exclusively air-cooled until relatively recently, and know their stuff.

A friend of mine has a splitty engine rebuilt by them which purrs 😉
