Hi all how many of us has been ripped of on ebay.Just recieved a item i bought of ebay, when i looked at the cost to post item they had charged me more than double the price of the postage. When asked why they told me it was for petrol money.Does this seem fair or am i a whinger. If it was only a couple of dollars i wouldnt care but to charge me $11.45 on top of the $10.55 postage cost seems a bit much????:vader

Iwish4aSynchro 路

Yeh up shit but what can u do??
Spose u have already bought it?
Depending on what it was, and why do u have to pay for his/hers petrol, seems a bit much and i would be shoving up someones arse.

Unless u really want it in which case u have just been shafted.馃槵

I think i will have to give ebay the flick and stick to buying my parts of the vw forums???:beer

Hi Shane,

If you received the item already then the seller would have told you the total that you have already paid for?

If you dont want to pay for the item just tell the seller that you are NOT prepared to pay the extra money for petrol. Also

If he puts negative feedback then you do the same.

I guess you have to ask yourself if the item, being $10 more, is still worth it.

ONly prob is everyone want's what u need at the same time as u need it.

Make sense????

squizy 路

It looks like the issue here is that the item has already arrived, and as Shane said, with postage less than what was quoted. Petrol my ass. If you haven't left feedback yet, you can comment that way, else go back through the proper Ebay channels. Unfortunately some people will try and line their pockets through any means.

Fleebay:puke last resort buying IMO i have only bought 6 or 7 items --ever--- of Fleebay and only two of the 7 were truly what they were advertised to be , most of it would appear to be junk, as for additional expenses on a whim I just bought a keyring but MY BAD missed the fact the seller wanted cash or money order only which appart from the stuffing around meant that handling charges would be more than the cost of the key ring-- I emailed and said I'd missed the conditrion thingo and only did direct debit, no DD contact the other bidder cause I wasn't going there and that was that --bad feedback--who cares over something like that. As for petrol money--did they put it in the terms and comditions ?
If you realy want the whatever-- pay up --and put your--dissatisfied-- comments in feedback, if not, just don't go there and cop a bit of feedback yourself, you can always repost to it anyway.
Cheers ,

i must be lucky...so far we've only had one bad ebay experience...

And that was over postage. Guy stated one price, then hit us with another..but ebay sorted it out pretty quickly by telling selling..if u quote a price it is firm.

Can't remember off hand any others. All items were accurately described. And we've had some great sellers who we go back to again and again. so...

Sorry for ur misfortune.

koolkarmakombi 路

about 85 transactions with only one being a problem, died just out of warranty.

Better than the past 85 deals in real life....

Ebay is no longer the bargain center it once was due to the size of the market. Sure, there are some bargains but most of the time its more a convenience thing. You're at home buying something you want that isnt that easy to find; no wasting time going out looking for it, travel time, environmentally friendly(no exhaust fumes) etc and it gets delivered to your door.

So if you calculate time=money then ebay is still great for me!

MickH 路

You're a whinger....you obviously paid for the postage etc before you recieved it so, as mentioned above, if you were not happy you shouldn't have paid. Some people charge more to make up for a cheaper sale price.Something to be cautious of.

amazeer 路

postage inflations are everywhere. Some people sell an item for $50 + $5 postage, the next person will sell it for $5 and charge $50 postage. I spose it lists their item higher up the list if it has a lower price, + suck in a few unsavvy buyers. You need to be aware of that, make sure you know the postage cost before bidding.

I've never had any problems with other people buying or selling. Only problem I had was miixing up postage labels and sending the wrong thing to the wrong person. Had to pay both postage back here then out again. 3 x postage for 2 things meant I lost a few bucks.

Hertz 路

Do what I do. Send them an email stating that you are so happy with the item and that they are the best ebayer you have ever dealt with. Really go over the top with the praise so they feel really good about themselves. Sure enough they will leave you positive feedback straight away, so you are then free to leave them negative feedback stating how you really feel. Harsh but fair.

Pumba 路

I was given a price before auction ended, after it ended with me selecting buy it now, they sent me a email saying it was more so i thought they must have got a price so i said fair enough and paid it.Then when it arrived i seen what it cost and asked why i paid the extra they said to cover there petrol and handling witch was not stated in the add.As for what mickH said i paid top dollar for item, yes i paid what they said postage was no problem If that was wat it cost them, people who charge extra postage to make money are not worth dealing with.

aussiebaja 路

ive been hit by a person that is on here and sells through ebay ,i won the item for $1 and then they pulled out ,and guess who copped it ,it wasnt them ,then they had the hide to say send me $50 and ill give you a few more, yeah right

Craig Torrens 路

Just get them to send it COD for the postage...............then you pay the real cost :thumb

Postage Boosters should be put in a stock near a gay bar overnight. Have had this problem before as well. As Hertz said wait for them to post feedback then let them know how you REALLY feel. This serves 2 purposes 1/ It's a wake up call for the seller 2/ It lets other buyers know this seller is an arse clown. Take the rip off mongrel down.

Pumba 路

I did leave neg feedback but got it back myself witch i new was going to happen. Not all that worried about the feedback.Sent the seller a couple of unpleasant emails,I agree with you DUBB61 postage boosters are oxygen theives?????馃憥

Sounds like the one that advertises "comes with full fitting kit" --in a pigs arse--fitting kit is there-- but incomplete, that twat has caught me twice now -first time I thought it was me, second time I know it isn't, ---there wont be a third time.
Not so cheery,

Yeah i agree, if buying internationally you've got to do some research on the seller, got caught by Nos Germany for stoneguards, accidently bid on 2 sets as had same item number listing, pointed this out to him, he then used the negative feedback blackmail angle, wasn't happy. Got onto the Samba forum and found out all about him, had asked if geniune he said 'YES' but really " No" as made of aluminum not pewter composite, same molds but not the same definition as originals, sounds anal but going on a resto 46k Oval, then waited 4 months to receive at the cost of 65 euros then didn't have customs discription of goods or cost. If you haven't been there its a drama with OZ customs. I don't have dreams anymore of the Germans running out of the Bunkers in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and NOS GERMANY going " LOOK NOS STONEGUARDS " before i light him up with a flame thrower...I'm over it, after all they made VW'S

I also got ripped off on shipping from an idiot. Actual cost was $6, he charged me $30. I left him neutral feedback, he left me -ve feedback just b/c I dared to say why the extra $24!!!!! eBay wouldn't remove the -ve feedback because the idiot didn't agree. Go figure.

Mnnn in the past month I've been a victim of both an unscrupulous ebayer and general incompetence. Not sure what annoys me most.

I've had an EBay user that I bought stuff from cancel their membership - the stuff I paid for never tuned up (this was a user with a shop and 9000+ sales too). Pay pal seem to be taking an age to sort the whole thing out.

I've had a parcel shipped with a $30 COD charge because the vendor must have forgotten to add the postage to their invoice (a phone call or email to me would have resolved the situation) - you may say fair enough but this was a $1K part that was SECONDHAND! - I'm sure they would have had more than a few hundred bucks profit in it . Why should I receive a bill for someone else's incompetence??? Needless to say they won't get my custom any more.

I've also had some parts 'lost' by Australia Post, they was sent by recorded delivery yet they have no record of it!! Go figure?? Worst part of it is that I got our postmaster at work to send them as I've been flat out too busy to do it myself - YEAH YEAH I KNOW - if you want a job doing properly.....

I now totally regret not posting them myself.

Australia Post are happy to reimburse me $50 of the $260 that the parts were worth. Ironically the postmaster just quit yesterday.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

That's my Rant for this week.
