nothing about Australian drivers suprises me. We have hundred of thousands thousands of signs everywhere saying "KEEP LEFT". If you dont know that one then you shouldnt even have a licence to breathe. And whats worse... I've seen a quite a few people stuff it up.
I saw someone turn right out of mcdonalds the other day.... no big deal except it's a six lane road with median strip up the middle. She just drove straight up to the lights and stopped... as if she was on the left side of the median. Bizzare

its a great programme! how crap are these people, they should NEVER be let loose on the public highway, let alone give a new car if they pass their tests! the tv people should be sued if these nutters cause damage or worse!!

I ride a motorcycle, so for my own safety I think people like those should never ever be given a licence...

I was watching it tonight and found it annoying that for most of these people that have been on there L's for years, are being taught in manual cars by professional instructors.
There was one lady that was so petrified by speed that she went into shock attempting a swerving manouver!!!!!!
Obviously for this lady it's all too much. If the instructors had a clue, they would have seen her body language from the very first lesson and realised this and put her straight into an auto.
Another lady last week that set off both airbags just parking the car!!! I'm absolutely amazed that the instructors only decided then to get her to drive an automatic car.......
Going off on a tangent, when the do gooders and pollies decide to do something about youngsters on our roads (from all the deaths) all they seem to do is put harsher restrictions,
instead of teaching them proper driving technics like as in an advance driving school. The Govt should subsidise these courses like they do if you want to get your motorbike license (in NSW -not sure of the other states)
The swerving manouver that they had in tonight's show is similar to a component in the motorbike course. Doing a 3 point turn and reverse parking really is no big deal, and not one that would make you lose control of your car.
This is where the mentallity should change and promote proper teaching ie, high speed braking, high speed driving (yes, I did write high speed driving-cause most of the time most students don't get past 60km/h in their lessons and test) crash avoidance, etc. These are the things that are not being taught and should be in addition to the 3 point turns etc, not once the youngsters have got their P's and and learn for themselves, in some cases never to live again......
Just my 2cents
Cheers

they should have a time limit on when you first go for your licence ,say 2 years ,as some of those have been doin it for 11 years and look like there first time, how can they concentrate when there scared shitless and shacking like a leaf in a storm ,i think if its gonna take you more than 2 years to go from your l's to p's you should give up and you should be able to get them

was one of the first things that we picked up also... but i guess its for the show as any SANE person would not allow them to learn in a manual car...
but having said that any SANE person wouldn't let em drive at all coz they clearly struggle with the most basic concepts....

oh.. one more thing.... how the hell that woman scored 100% on the driving test i have no idea... found it interesting they didn't show her doing the test either... only a little bit of it.

Yes I wonder as well because at the end when the tester said turn back into the rta she moved over to the left to turn right what the!
What if a car or bike was going to go around her.
And she passed.

those signs are more for our overseas friends who are let loose on our roads, but having said that i have just seen someone driving down the wrong side of a 4 lane divided road (2 lanes of which are filled with parked cars :o )

thats a waste of money too. I've only driven on Australian and NZ roads, havent been to any other country since I was 6 years old, but I know what side of the road most of them drive on. UK, pakistan india sri lanka, most(maybe all) pacific islands, japan, south africa are left. Anyone else that matters is right. dont need no signs. You can generally tell by the location of the steering wheel too. Presumably when the french people step foot out of the terminal and nearly get run over they should think 'SACRE BLEU!" and come to realise
