Lucas indicators - any sources?

Anyone know where one could track down a pair of the old Lucas indicators which graced many of the yesteryear cal-lookers??

Cheers
Alan

Not the best image but you get the idea. I've looked on ebay.co.uk but no luck just yet. Maybe it is just a waiting game unless somewhere sells them new?

I suggest that you try a Land Rover dealer/wrecker. They used to be on older model Land Rovers. They now have a more recent style which unfortunatley does not comply with the ADRs otherwise I may have put them on the SR.

If I remeber rightly that style of light was on many older models of English cars like, Morris Minors, MGs, Austins, Austin Healeys, etc..

yep, to shaihulud & most cars stopped using about 1955, changing to the more rounded glass that you see on the front of all real minis best source is swap meets, & you may have to pick up the components such as housing, lense & chrome rings seperately the lense & chrome surround is held in by lips on the rubber housing, which frequently splits from hardening or careless removal replacement of lense

Hi ,
These are of a falcon--I think they're street legal--had no probs with the MVR anyhow,--just an idea anyway.

Alan try Mini Kingdom in Sydney as they have NOS Mini and Morris style lights that i think you are looking for.

Thanks guys.

I am afte clear lenses by the way

They look a lot like the Lucas lights I threw out after my last garage clean up earlier this year, with a bunch of other old Rover lights and parts.
They were NOS and in a box!

Try a Rover club or swap meet.

Roundys the same style as this (patterned clear glass ) were on early Morris 1000's-- Minis--and a shit load of other 50's/60's pommy cars--I have also seen similar recessed fitting ones in Kmart sold as reversing lights for trailers for 2 bob a go (some time ago).
Cheers , Al .

Yes these old Lucas lights with glass lenses which were held in by the rubber grommet...

One of the locals used the front round blinker that was used on early Nissan Patrols..
they look OK too...

Can you tell Me why the Land rover lights are Not ADR approved?
and which ones You are talking about
glass or plastic?
[ I'm interested in lights.. lol ]

empi still make em with the flatter lens, the lucas ones had a more pronounced lens as i had a set on my '77 cal looker back in the uk

shaihulud ·

The Land Rover style of lights are plastic. I usually see them on the back of older models of A.C. Cobra replicas. They are not ADR approved. Why? Who knows. Have a look through a Hella or Narva catalogue. Some of the lights in them are ADR approved and some are not. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Cheap looking trailer lights can be ADR approved and really nice looking lights are not.

Fortunately someone else asked the same question on cal look forum - ordered a pair already:
