Haven't seen this before - a buggy running a generator and an alternator !!
Is this a normal procedure?
Cheers

Bizarre ·
I think it use to be common practice when the genny died to add another brand alternator but keep the geeny for the fan

it looks like an old 6 volt generator...
and maybe they wanted to switch to 12 volts...
thats the cheapest way to do it, but the fan belt
over the old generator [engine fan] should have
an idler fitted to keep contact on the generator pulley,
otherwise, the belt can slip and there won't be enough cooling air for the engine....
maybe they were lucky??

yeah it's a 'bush mechanics' way of converting to 12V

My 36hp beetle has this conversion, works ok but would like to change it to look original but keep it running 12volts cheers shane.

mines gonna be like that but im gonna run a dual pully on the genny and mount the alt right above the genny ,cheaper than buying a 12 volt alt in place of the genny
