a new accel cable is maybe $5, I used to buy em for $2...
I would suggest buying the right part for the job, and a spare for next time...

A company in the USA sells throttle cables that don't break...
I tried to buy them once but they didn't want to know anyone outside the USA....
also made unbreakable clutch cables....

the reason the accelerator cable breaks is the cable flexes all the time next to the crimped on piece of metal...
the cables would last longer if the end bit wasn't there....

Good tip then?

with everything setup properly, it should not have much flex there anyway...
the early cables are solid not braided, and last for years... they do not flex at the end at all.

often with twin carb linkages, or the horrible empi single centre mount idf manifolds etc the cable gets pulled out of line.
also need to make sure the bowden tube is in place between the rear of the pan and the tube that goes through the fan housing.
