Has any one imported a Beetle motor from the USA?
I have been quoted close to $3000 for a reco 1600 stock motor in Oz.
I have checked the Samba and some US suppliers are quoting between 2-4k for a high performance motor.

You get what you pay for.

You can get rebuilds here for under $2k - usually fitted.

The $3k US specials are all crated and not fitted.
And usually Empi type quality parts. Shiny - not quality

Do a search for GEX and see what comes up
Most decent US places do a 1916 for like $5k US - that is say $6k here

Parts are a bit cheaper over there as well.
I heard that the after market VW buisness overtook Chevy parts last year.

Bloody long way for warranty as well.

Rod Penrose is advertising a NEW 1916cc engine for $3650 (Or something close to that) in the parts section.
If i was looking for a motor that's what i'd be getting.:bounce
