clutch shudder :(

Anthiron ·

just put in a new clutch (stock) to replace my old one that was slipping, new one doesnt slip but its shuddering on take off, i put a bit more bend in the bowden tube and that seemed to help a little but not too much, clutch grips ok and changes through gears fine but just on take off wants to shudder even with very little revvs.

any ideas?

If you are satisified with the bend in the bowden tube, I only thing I can think of is to check the gearbox/engine mounts. But I assume you checked the engine ones when the engine was out.

Bizarre ·

oil on pressure plate
the rear weld on the clutch tube has come loose
warped pressure plate
fingers bent

MickH ·

did you get the flywheel machined?? Might have a few "high spots" causing erratic engagement...try putting a little more bend on the tube if it originally helped a bit.

vw54 ·

did u check the pressure plate for flat

is the clutch arm sitting straight

Anthiron ·

i didnt get the flywheel machined, but it wasnt shuddering with the old clutch only the new one,

i tryed putting more bend in the tube that didnt seem to help any further, i guess ill pull the engine out again tomorrow 🙁

yeah i woulda suggested the bowden tube.. apart from that hmmm
new crutch how about p plate n thro out bearing as well yeah..
did you bolt it up nice n square as it woulda been before..
check it out when ya pull the mtr out next..
it should only take 20 mins.. 😉

this will cause a cry of evel doer but try giving the bug a big boot full and slip the clutch at the same time sometimes this will bed the new clutch in to the old groves and stop shuddering an old but good thing
