What are 36 IDF webers like on a type 1 twinport motor?

Would they use the same manifolds as 40 / 44 IDF webers?

What size engine would they be most suitable for?

hey Mark
I have a set for a hot 1641 i will build one day for a buggy.
check out:

Also do a search on thesamba.com
great carb for up to 2L with stock valve sizes depending on application you just need to rebuild them properly to suit - from all accounts, mark (from the website above) is a really great guy and happy to answer questions.
The have the same bolt pattern as bigger IDFs.
You can really see the difference when you hold up against a 44!

Bizarre ·

i use to have a set

IDF 36's with 32 vents

They were brilliant on a stock 1600 but i thought they struggled a bit on a warm 1776

Maybe i would try again on a 1775 but i wouldnt use on anything bigger

They seemed smooth on the 1600 but just seemed lump / flat spotted on the other motor

I ran a pair for a couple of years on a 1776 with stock valves and mild cam. They ran beautifully and gave back excellent economy. I ran the motor in a beetle and in a kombi (69 bay) and they were a trouble free run for me. Never tried to run the motor past 5000rpm as I had a stock crank. Good luck :thumb

It sounds like they might be worth a shot

They come up on ebay for around $100 a pair.
They will have to modified as per the servebeer website in my previous post.
