Hi MAte, Probably SH, I think new ones are gonna be too much for me to justify
Cheers

i dont think the lowlight bays ever had chromed bumpers, they were available as an option around '75
the BUS STOP in Qld sells new ones
otherwise, take em down to a metal plater and have them chromed

Hi Mate not sure what your asking. Its for an early bay - so 1970 model bay (kombi). I am hoping to get a set already chromed
vw54 ·
Ok so thats it
You would like a set of 1970 type 2 Kombi bars chromed in perfect condition
You would be better off purchasing the after market bars
there good quality and will be straight as well I saw a set the other day

Hi thanks mate, Any idea how much they are? Also does the chrome hold up on them - anyone know? I've heard some of the aftermarket stuff starts rusting pretty quickly
Thanks again

the repro bars are usually painted black
and the chrome will cost you about 3 to $400 for each bar

Still hoping for some second hand ones. Anyone ever tried polishing up originals?

Mate.. Find a reasonable set and have them straightened and chromed..
Last (Bay) set I did cost $700.. You can't beat the originals.. I have a complete straightened (in primer) early bay rear bumper that cost $139.00 to straighten a few years back.. I'd never let it go until I give up on doing early bays..
I guess my point is, find a set thats half decent and get them repaired.. You won't find many people that are prepared to let go of good (straightened and coated) ones.. There is a crowd in MEL that do excellent quality chroming... If you want to go this route.. let me know..
