I am thinking of going to one piece windows on my 67 Resto..
The body is nearly finished so this is a late idea..
Whats involved? I heard there was a DIY kit for this?

i think vintage has them and classic
MISS VDUB ·
I got mine from Classic.
There is a bit of cutting involved around where the quarter window sits. You will see while parts need to be cut when you remove the glass. You will also have to removed the hinge that stop the door from swinging back, and replace it with something else.
I Highly recommend getting dual lift window regulators which often appear on eBay (there is some on there now). Your windows wont go up properly without these.

Think how you are going to seal the windows first
Most of the jobs i have seen are poor in that the bottom scraper and the bailey?? channel coming down at the front dont line up well and leave a hole
It can be done well. Jeff Baker's Cool 56 has the rubber all round the window - inside and out. This looks good and seals well.
For some reason 97.5% of cars with one piece windows do it the cheap way.
Your car is coming up way to nice to be cheapened with an unfinished one piece window kit.
Think it through before you cut

Not cutting anything just yet...

There a pain in the bum to fit preperly near on 8 hours a side to make them work and fit correctly

Hi
Keep your flippers, they work much better.

as Steve said make sure ur 100% sure first
they look good from a distance
ive got them in one of my bugs and hate them
i have twin lift mechanisms and theyre still arent as solid as stock but the main part is the door itself will rattle and flex alot cos u have to cut out the center support
between the 2 skins
that and u cant run a check rod with 1 piece windows
ask how many owners have bent door hinges

But I have decided to smooth the front guards and the bonnet (except for the VW roundel).. Indicators will need to go elsewhere.. I'm thinking those ones that come in the headlights..
vw54 ·
are you fitting the Mexican boot n engine lid seals n doing away with the origionals there much cleaner
Bizarre ·
2c worth here
Go with the Mexican rubbers (:duh) if it is not too late
And why not the Harley indicators??
Cliche maybe...but only cause the look good
Either way... definitely smooth.
You could also get an idea from a certain person who has them in the bumper.
Hate to complement that person but it does look really good and works well.

I put the American spec headlights on my superbug because of the aero guards. On my Early i went for the harley indicators as i think they suit the earlier shape better. It all depends on what look you are going for...?

Thanks all.. Thought of harley lamps.. Thought of inserts too but the blades will (IMO) look alot cleaner without them.. The blades are smoothed also so they will have a severe chrome finish look.. Inside the headlights it will be (if I can get'em)
Yes Dave.. MEX rubbers front and back..
Now it's all coming together, the best way to describe the styling will be Old Skool Euro Look.. Confused? You should be cause I am...
I've now picked the paint and interior colours.. It will be Ice Cool...
I'm booking out the rooms at the Helensburgh Pub for the Saturday we join the pan and body.. I'm going to get a few beers in afterwards so NO driving back to SYD that night.. Its a great area only 45 mins sth of SYD.. Maybe an AVD meet on that day? (Should be mid October).. Those that want to have a BBQ and beer or two (after the jobs done) can have the option of staying in the pub... Just a thought..
