Craig Torrens ·

enough to reach the full line on the dip stick:P

flippo1 ·

yeh I know, I think my dipstick is wrong so I wanted to check.

RISKY_VW ·

about 3.5 L

flippo1 ·

thankyou very much risky

flippo1 ·

just fished through some literature, 2.8 litres.

kombikim ·

with VW aircooled engines it is absolutely critical that you check the oil with the car level
as even a slight slope in any direction can drastically alter the apparent oil level with each of my cars I wnet to a flat undercover shopping centre car park filled to exactly full & then went home & checked again where the car is always parked noted what dipstick level is there, & now I happy, got caught out with my first kombi & actually ran out of oil when I thought it was on the low mark

Nope its 3.5 litres a type 1 uses 2.5 and a wasser boxer has 5.

modulus ·

Yes, 3.5 litres (with oil filter change). 3 litres (w/o oil filter change) and the distance between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick is 1 litre.
