I bought this little beast from Vic in Dec 06. The car is a one owner, garaged from new 75L with 117K on the clock. I flew down to Melbourne and then drove it back to Sydney. She cruised at 110KM/h all the way home averaging 7.5l per 100K's.

interior..................like new !

seats.................like the day they left the factory.

Craig Torrens ·

the paint under the guards is as good as the outside. I don't think the car has ever been on a dirt road !

reub ·

Far out hey.... what a score.

Would love to see all the VW's you own....🙂

Craig Torrens ·

hehehe..............no I think this will stay original !.............my wife has even told me to take the sprintstars off as they are not the "original" wheels.

Fantastic find Craig - amazing how well it has been preserved!

Craig Torrens ·

the carpets and floor mats are fantastic.

Craig Torrens ·

The 1600tp averaged 7.5lt/100k's from Melbourne to Sydney and didn't burn any oil :thumb

You COULD do that but the car would be worth squat as is any Volksy that doesn't have the original type air cooled engine.:thumb

It has a stroker in it....................its a 1200 with a 69mm crank, bigger pistons, different case and some twin port heads :P

Cheers Matt, it was hard to believe that the owner was unable to find a buyer for it in Vic...................was on the market for several months !

The owner was a 89 year old women, and she had to sell due to her "walking frame" not being able to fit in the car.

So there's still good cars out there..........I wonder if they will ever sell to the value of a GTHO !!!!

Having craweled all over this bug LOOKING for faults and finding none I am glad it went to an owner worthy of its condition

I did consider selling daughters 75L and buying it at one stage

Craig Torrens ·

Thankyou Doc for your help during the purchase 👍
