OK, so now the new exhaust has been on a while, 2 1/2 hours, I've decided the hoties need to look a bit more respectable. Is there a paint that I can finish the mufflers off with that will stand the heat?
thanks
Don

Yes Don,
there are many paints available in different colours..
Hi temperature paint from Auto stores..

the only real success I've had is with white hi temp paint..

just put it on very lightly... a few light coats...

Maybe its better heat the paint up, by running the engine after each coat...

I know many people have had bad experiences with high temp paint... and it just peels off....

The best black muffler paint I've ever used is JOHN DEERE brand Muffler paint.. [only in black]

best of luck

the only thing ive used that held up was pot belly stove black like craig said
after 3 years the muffler still looked as good as when i first painted it but on the headers it had gone for about 5" coming out of the heads
but all that ordinary hi temp paint is crap and doenst last

I'm with DUB74L👍

all the pressure pack high temp paint eventually peeled off My muffler

so I painted it with high temp silver POR 15...
its all peeling off now....

My heater boxes were painted with pressure pack High temp paint, and they are still OK...
but naturally they don't get as hot as the exhaust...

Caterpillar sells a black high temperture exhaust pipe paint. It's part number 4C-4199.

I've bought some for the exhaust of the SR, but it hasn't been applied yet, so I can't tell you if it's any good. It's not cheap and it comes in a spray can.

i just did my headers on the weekend and my muffler was done about 2 yrs ago. its still as the day i painted it except where ive scratched it

i used pot belly black (matte) from bunnings. as with anything, its all in the preparation. if u have access to a sand blaster then use it. otherwise spend the time to sand it down to give a good roughed surface to key onto. and lastly make sure u wipe down with alcohol or metho before spraying. 2 or 3 coats is plenty

Well thanks to all, looks like it's the pot calling the belly black (I think)
thanks heaps
