I have a mate that is into open wheelers (Elfins??) and is looking at doing a 1600 Golf motor. Not quite sure on the details but he is in the Hostoric Racing Car Club so it has to be stock.
that said in his current 1500 he is getting 185 at the whels in a 450kg car and does eastern creek in the sub 140's

So who is the guru on tweaking Mk 1 or 2 Golf motors???

I don't think harding do much older stuff like that. There was a new guy out from the uk, set up a shop up on bribey (spelling island) on the sunshine coast. From the UK was into early golf performance stuff.

Put a mk Gti motor in it with the k jetronic.... works in my mk1......

he is running 48 DCOE's with 42 chokes on a 1500 at the moment and making 185 rw HP 🤪

He is looking to Golf motors as they are a cheap base

No they are a side draft 2 barrel non progressive.
