i did the same thing to my right pointer a few years back in the T4 slider
i spit the finger in 2 about 1/2 way down to the bone and broke the bone in half..
a few weeks later the nail decides to come off whilst im out the back of a big set in the surf
much hurties and a long recovery i was blessed wif
no doubt it be a long time before the nail grows back..
now i am always super careful when i slide the door shut..
the finger is all good now but the nerves didn't quite join up properly and its still a wee bit numb at the cut..

The rag caused me quite a few injuries during its restoration (but none after it was finished so you are in a category of your own there!). Hope it heals up soon! 😁

Nothing but sympathy for you.
I have the very much the same damage on my left big toe. Believe it or not ( you may prepare your groans) I dropped a tow bar on it.

Done that myself once, except I didn't shut the door on my finger, was shut on it by someone else. Still, very much the same result.
