Just had a nice long chat with an elderly lady who was driving a '54 factory black oval, all complete and original(except the motor), even down to the first issue Q plates, not repro's! It was her mothers from new and she has taken over ownership recently. I have been added to her list of people wanting to buy it(damn, hope its not a long list) but I've told her of my 2 bugs and she is local to my area so I hope that helps 馃槑 But, I think she is a little delusional as to what she expects for it. Her words were, she'd want $20,000 as thats what she'd want to spend on a new car to replace it in order to get something nice......I guess, she'll soon realise no one will pay that and she'll probably keep it and let it rot away, but I hope she takes reasonable offers!!!
It wasn't completely rust free, bottom of the W and down the bottom of the doors had a bit, but nothing structural and none in the base of the A pillars or around the front or rear glass etc, not that I could get under and see the pan mind you, but she said its always been garaged. Paint was shot on most panels, front could be polished up nicely I reckon, but some nice patina and would make an awesome rat as is!! Had all Sekurit glass, ribbed doors, batwing, hearts etc, but not the original motor.
Anyway, just thought I'd share, not everyday you see a bone stock and pretty near complete, original 1(ok techinically 2) owner factory black '54!

well thats the other thing, she is aware that the plates are worth more than the car! Would be worth while having them go with the car as they are the original plates, but wouldn't pay silly money for them ontop of what the car is worth!!

I don't think so, nowhere near that area....but might be, I didn't get that deep into her location. She'd sell, for the money, she's taking names, so thats a start....previously when I've approached people about cars, the tuff nuts don't even speak to you about really, let alone take you name for a list!!

stephen - the og oval at the gap has whitewalls yes? i too tried but the son wouldnt sell due to sentimental reasons.
i got as high as 10k two years ago for it with no luck
