foxy_fuchsia ·

When you log into your facebook, on the lefthand side of the page there's a menu called applications...under that click on Groups and type in "aussieveedubbers", in the search box! 👍

foxy_fuchsia ·

facebook.com .... a better, i guess, more grown up version of myspace.... what is myspace? hehe

volumex ·

It doesn't show up when I search for "aussieveedubbers"

What am I doing wrong??

rob53 ·

Yeah I had same problem, I even search for vw, and trawled through over 500 groups ...

ang3lsholocaust ·

Try using a Capital A
Aussieveedubbers

volumex ·

Any other suggestions? What is it grouped under?

VDUBXTC ·

Not sure whats going on with your search 56_bug.
Works fine for me

rob53 ·

Still can't find it 🤪
Tried the url like the screen shot, but to no avail.

VW_Gurl ·

do u have one for myspace??

empi ·

If you cant find it join the Melburgluft group!!

volumex ·

Finally done it.
I had to join the Australia network first.

foxy_fuchsia ·

Oh ok, atleast it's worked now...I don't know if there's an avd group on myspace, im not too sure if you can have groups there? my space sux lol

So far there are 36 members and growing...even the awesome Jim has joined!!

schnidlee ·

i cant find it either. i think the groups been set up to only let you join if your in the australia network. joining a network means anyone in that network can see your profile and details

BenettonVW ·

Awesome? Dunno about that.. 🤪

ancientbugger ·

Well I just found it first go and posted as well. That may not seem much but Facebook just has me totally confused. I've been registered on it for a couple of months and people contact me from all over the place plus my 'inbox'(?) has loads of strange messages from people I know but when I try to open them I get sent to some sort of other website? I just don't have enough time sit around sifting through it all. I think I need young Nick (Anthiron) to show me ...now where did he get to???

foxy_fuchsia ·

haha you will have to get 'young nick' to sit down and show you how to work it, once you've done that you'll be fine!

There are 51 members so far we need moooooore! =)

type3kid ·

ok well i'll be in when i can be bothered logging in at home, the work pc is restricting me from joinging a group or writing on someone's wall (which means what by the way?)

and i thought myspace was complicated.... it may suck but it's a tad easier....

with lots of shiney things and weird stuff for grownups who really need a dose of ritalin! Once I found it I am so happy at having an new method of annoying the crap out of people with application requests! It's like scrapbooking for geeks! Yay 🥷

Problem with the avd thingy in there is trying to work out who's who regarding nicknames etc! 🤘

foxy_fuchsia ·

hahaha very true $2.63, with trying to work out who's who on there!

And true that myspace is a tad easier at first .. when I first jumped on facebook I didn't know what was where and I use computers eveyday and graphic design! But after a while, you work it out and now I think it's sooo much better!

It's all in good fun though =)

foxy_fuchsia ·

We're ON FIRE! 😵‍💫 LOL Up to 72 members on Facebook AVD!

11CAB ·

Wasn't Facebook on one of the Current Affairs shows about people not being able to close their accounts and get out???

foxy_fuchsia ·

Mmm, not sure 11Cab .. I'm pretty sure you are able to deactivate your account if you want to!?

Notch Nut ·

Worst case scenario, if you can't close your account, just upload all the information you have about the freaky/annoying neighbours that you have.

Here we go.....was in last weeks Sunday Mail in Brisbane

"Users caught in web tangle"

March 29, 2008 11:00pm

DISAFFECTED Facebook users – angry at difficulties deleting their accounts and personal information – have flooded a protest group designed to help people leave the site.

The group, called "How To Permanently Delete Your Facebook Account", has grown from fewer than 4000 members at the start of last month to more than 14,000.
Those seeking to leave the site are not finding it as easy as joining.

The preferred option offered by Facebook is to "deactivate" an account.

This process does not delete the user's photographs, messages or list of friends.

Instead, Facebook merely stores the information away in case the user decides to rejoin the site, when they will find their profile just as they left it.

Before an account can be deactivated, Facebook wants to know why the user has turned against the site. It demands they agree to one of 10 reasons, which include: "I spend too much time using Facebook", "Facebook is resulting in social drama for me" and "I don't feel safe on the site".

Each selection carries suggestions on how to avoid the problem and stay with the site.

To permanently delete accounts, users previously had to individually delete each photograph, picture, friend and message before contacting Facebook staff to wipe out their profile.

After a storm of protest, Facebook provided a form designed to make it easier to leave.

But users are still reporting difficulties getting out.

Almost all information on the site pushes users towards deactivation.

If users are able to find the link to permanently delete their profile, they are thanked for their request and must then wait days for a response.

Even then some users say their account is still accessible, raising privacy concerns.

"Your profile is not deleted, only partially emptied of information and the possibility to log in removed," complained one user on the protest group, which is within the Facebook site.

"This is not an acceptable situation and can, regrettably, be seen as another attempt by Facebook to deceive its members."

Another member of the 'How To Permanently Delete Your Facebook Account' group offered a novel way to delete an account – violate the terms and conditions.

"It worked for me," he said.
