Yogie ·

We are visiting Wolfsburg at the end of March/start of April. We are going to do a factory tour when we are there (we have already had a visit to the autostadt).

What I want to know is, what other VW museums are there in Wolfsburg? I know there is a ghia one but can anyone tell me what is there and where and if they know if they open on weekends or not.

Thanks

Surely somebody has been there and knows?

Hi I went there in 2004...Had a ball...I visited the Wolfsburg Castle Schloss (has a building on the side containing all the reference/connection to the castle & Volkswagen)...worth visiting....
Then went to the VW Auto Museum at DieselstraBe Wolfsburg...(that houses all the older & most well known exhibition of all models VW)......
There is a Karmann Factory at Osnabruck ...
Hope that helps you out a bit...Judy

Thanks Judy,
We have been to the museum at the autostadt and it was great. We went in winter and actually got to go down the snow covered slide in a tyre tube as well as went skating there. We will do the castle and the factory tour this time as well but I had heard there were 1 or 2 other museums to see there but do not have any other info.

I would like to go to osnabruck but don't think we will have the time unfortunately.

Thanks again.

planning a similar trip (pilgrimage) in may - well was originally just going to the uk but its only a short hop across to germany. Are two days enough to get a good vw fix?

We spent 3 full days in Wolfsburg and didn't run out of things to do. It was excellent. The museum in Dieselstrasse is where they issue the birth certificates (they asked me if I wanted to pick them up from there). Trouble is, they only open from Friday to Sunday which meant we didn't get to go inside and they had to post the certificates to us. The autostadt was excellent. We did the tour of the factory which takes an hour and also went up in the turmfahrt (the towers they store the cars in) where you can see for miles in all directions. Also did the terrain park drive in the touareg and also did it in the new tiguan. Museum (zeithaus) is also great and you can spend a whole day just in there.

Took lots of photos and even got some of the new passat cc. Took photos of the R50/R36 etc as well as the vaeyron when we were in Berlin as well.

We stayed in the ritz-carlton on site at the autostadt and it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. I hope you enjoy the trip.

Cheers
