Neat little well made 8 fuse fuse boxes are available in places like Super Cheap.

Use the stock VW one from a late Type 3 or Bay bus
they have the extra section for the blinker n headlight relays and space for a few others easy to install

Hi
I hate those pesky ceramic VW fuses, they corrode and fall out if bump them, I'm using a Camira fuse box in my new car which has blade fuses.

use must not have installed them right in the first place then

Problem is i haven't the slot for the standard fuse box. Plus, i've run my loom to the centre of the front end of the car. Would like one that is its own box and enclosures the wires away from the car body.

Hi
Try Beverly Hills performance, I think they have Painless Wiring stuff or even Supercheap. Or go to your local flaps and get a Narva one like these, http://www.narva.com.au/Fuses_16.html

Whats 'flaps' mean (nothing rude now 🙅)

Yes,
I've been thinking of replacing My VW fusebox with a new Narva blade fuse box...
I'm with Steve..
those pesky ceramic fuses are a pain...
I polish the ends of My fuses..
polish the end of the fuse holders
etc
and I pretension the fuse holders so they are tight..
but still have problems...
so its got to go...

I was out at Pick n Payless yesterday and had a look at a few fuseboxes. The Barina ones looked OK.

Steve 56 mate we r always having fun thats why we get on so good hehehehe
BUT i dont think i can remeber the last time i ever had a problem with the stock fuse box it may be different if you need to hang 10 circuits of one fuse but why u would want to do that is a mystery
i think thye work good and if there clean and the spring end are good and you use the good german ceramic fuses the n no probs and the ease of mounting good quality german relays etc etc

Hi
Dave likes to get on here to show the depth of his VW knowledge, its like a puddle, it evaporates when heat is applied.
Dont worry, Dave and I are good mates.
As I said I'm fitting a Camira fuse box to my new 1303. I've cut the relay plate of the stock 1303 fuse box and glued it to the Camira fuse box. The Camira fuse box has 14 fuses wired up and the provision for 3 more and a relay plate for another 4 relays.

New little brass fittings are available for those Holden Camira fuse blocks and relay blocks.
I've just fitted two Commodore set ups which are just like that one (one in the front and one in the back) of the SR.
With care, multiple fittings can be removed and re-used.

thats a nice insulated solder joint on the red wire
what happens when its earth LOL F L A S H fire
1303Steve ·
Hi
Its not likely to catch fire on my desk, that soldered joint is factory Holden. shaihulud, were do you get the brass fittings, from Holden?
I'm using late Mk1 Golf wiper & blinker switches on my new car along with the current flow from the Golf.

yes I have done that too! The challenge is finding one that can be surface-mounted, rather than needing a special bracket or a hole in the bodyshell/dash (like standard) to be installed
I found one in a Datsun Sunny/120Y that will do the trick - but it has glass fuses. Aussie-made late-80s Pulsar/Astra looks okay, has blade fuses and 18 (I think) circuits and provision for 6 or 8 relays. NONE seem to have flat blade terminals for easy hook-up to VW wires etc so all wires will need to be cut 'n shut
