I don't know if others in the Newcastle area are noticing this but there seems to be alot of old VWs drving around the town recently?
When i normally spot one I have usually seen it before or know who owns it, but everyday now i keep seeing more and more unfamiliar old VWs in the area.
Has anyone noticed this in Newcastle or elsewhere?

Funny, I see a lot less beetles on the road in Sydney, maybe that's where they've gone!

hardly any pre-68's up here that you see on a weekly basis, let alone ovals, I think I've only seen 2 ovals driving around up here regularily, and one I've only seen a few times!

I saw a white super the other day girl driving with p plates I waved she snobbed me. I was driving my 58 Buz bug the first time I saw her and the second time I saw her I was driving my oval and she snobbed me again when I waved. I either drive the 62, 58, 70 or the 71 super bug to work every day. The oval I try to take for a run every weekend not like some (70 beetle) lol馃槀

Maybe she does not realise that people who drive VW wave to each other. Maybe someone should tell her.Its not nice being snobbed

I went for a cruise in my oval this arvo and saw a beetle, kombi and a buggy and they all waved when I waved at them. It was a lovely arvo to go for a drive around the beach bloke at servo where I filled up said I had a nice looking bug he was filling up his vintage ford.

I was in Newcastle -Belmont on Thursday and saw a few beetles..
Most were parked..
Maybe what happens here in Perth is also happening there.
Beetles are the prefered cars for parents to buy for their children to drive to college or university because they are cheap to buy, maintain and run. When the kid graduates and gets a job, the Beetle is then recycled to another student.
They seem to suddenly reappear at the begining of the academic year.
