Poor Fasty, shortened nose!

https://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/threads/67929/poor-fasty-shortened-nose

Andy ·

My better half had some one pull out in front of her the other day, and our fasty took the brunt of it.
Luckily everyone was OK, but the fasty did not take it so well.
Damage does not look so bad on the surface, but the whole front has been shunted to the right, and there's a lot of rippled and torn metal on the inner guards.
The quote to get it fixed is not very pretty!

Anyone have any late type 3 front end parts in Brissy?

bad luck,good everyone is o.k

i know where you can get a really, really clean complete fast back!

who's got the brunt of the bill? insurance?

Andy ·

Cheers,
The other drivers at fault, so insurance is picking up the bill, and luckily they are not writing the car off (seems to happen a lot with older cars). The panel beaters said sourcing the parts will be the hardest, so was hoping to find them for him. Should also help to get it back on the road sooner.

Oh Richard thats so bad to hear. Glad everyones ok though.

Great to hear they're not writing the car off.

Hope you find the panels you need sooner rather than later.

cheers

Howdy Andy

I spoke to Gordon last night he said that he may have somethings that may help you. Give him a call on

I know how you feel, it is very sad like when my Daughter smashed our fastie.

You could also try bodyworks unlimited out at Leichhardt. He did have a type 3 out there he was taking bits off. Not sure if he still has it though.

He also does body work on them. He has a unique ghia of his own that he is working at the moment as well. The owners name is Simon if you want to call him and his number is 3281 7133.

He has done work on a couple of my cars and I was very happy with the end result.

Thanks for all the kind words, not sure how strong a type 3 is, but it certainly kept every one safe, panels can be replaced!! Despite the damage it still drives OK (just can't turn too sharp)!! I did not see the other car, but sounds like the side was pushed a fair way in. It too was still drivable though.

Marc, I remember when you went through all that, sounds like the panel beaters have a similar replacment in mind for ours. Was the front end or pan damaged on yours? The only thing I can judge ours on is it still seems to drive OK. The nudge par behind the bumper was pushed hard enough to hit the front end on ours.

Thanks also for the help on parts, I have a few good contacts now, just need to get out and do some cutting!
