gday all, iv seen some awsome bugs on this site. loved some, liked some, and contemplated over others...
but now its time to show my bug, and well i guess, keep a progress report on it..
so here it is!... i call it Mr Beetle when im talking to it!! but i dont kno if its a male or female... but i love it none the less!!
My '69 1500cc. ..

this is both mine and my sisters beetles,hers is a '72 semi-auto 1600 DP, same colour scheme with the beige doors! when we go driving to the same place! its so awsome! and thats my dog!! her names Mintie!!
i love my car!! as u can tell, i take a photo of it almost every day, iv removed the rear bumper, and replaced the front bumper with a newer one with no dents and no rust! AND!!! the only reason i had superman covers on was i just took my dog to the vet! and didnt want her nails to cut the vynal!!... i hate em!!! the seat covers i mean!

i need to choose weather to lower it, or sway bar, or exhuats n stuff? whats the best value for money mod i can do with looks/handeling/power...
its killing me!!! i wana lower with rims, i want a rear sway and i want better carbie + manifold n stuff! i dunno where to start :S

good beetles - i own the "fat chick" round the corner from your place
If you are stuck for ideas come round and have a chat or come round to V Force at Mortlake and see what is on offer to get your beetle handling

good start is do all the bushings, some good quality shocks and maybe a front swaybar
running on stock width tyres is abit limiting to but u gotta draw a line somewher or it just never ends
but yea listen to Barry, go talk to Richard he'll sort u out

also! unforunetly we had to sell our bus 🙁 it saddens me till no end... but it had to be done .... we have too many cars, and it just wasnt being used .... makes me sad .... it should not have been sold .... but i didnt get a say in it .... we've had that bus since 1991.... 1 year after my birth, and its been with me all my life ... we went all over australia in that bus .... minus WA..... i love her !!! i miss her!!!! she currently resides in burwood.... being used for god knows what 🙁

ALSO!!! my father is trying to sell my sisters beetle... once agian! im trying to stop him!!! i want it, even if she doesnt!!!! HOW DO I STOP HIM!!! all my loved cars are being sold off like cheep china @ an auction!!!! i want them to stay 🙁

just an update too!!! got my sisters beetle back!!! its in the garage now!! safe and sound!!! more progress!! WOOT WOOT!! now i just have to get her ok, and i can pretty much use it 😀 ... for ... stuff 😀

ok update! getting the my beetle serviced this week! (YAY) cheers to steve!!!
and for the time being in gona be using my sisters beetle .... iv drivin it b4, and wow ... the auto box it really shit!!! but owell! better then driving the auto peugeot's...
Hopefuly the bug comes back all refreshed! ready for some mods 😀😀

Both so pretty, I just got my first bug 🙂 she's the same colour as ur sisters but without the beige doors. i love the two tone colour scheme.

1. the rims would be just silver, or polished so make it shiny 😀
2. id lower it to how its like in my pic, casue i love beetles @ that hight 😀
also, iv always wonderd, how are the roof racs attached to the car? are they bolted in? as in, is drilling the holes required? or is it some other kind of system?
ALSO!!! how much and were from did u get those rims and roof racks 😉

The roof rack i got from a forum member on here but you can get them from george at classic veedub, no you dont drill holes in the roof they sit in your rain gutters and clamp to the gutters.The rims i got from richard a vforce racing second hand but you can get them from george also,they come silver or polished.My beetle has a adjustable beam and thats as low i want to go without any dramas to go lower you would want drop spindles and if i was you a narrowed beam if you dont i think you will have dramas with your gaurds rubbing cheers shane.

So out of those rough estimations, the 2nd design is ALOT cheaper!!! so i think for now this might be the path i take! considering i dont have a full time job!
But i would love to see my first design also.... heck, who knows!! i might even do My sisters beetle as Design #1, or buy another '69...
Augh... if i had money, it would prolly already be done! but since im short i think design #2 is the way for me to go ATM... but i wont be doing this for a long time, so really, only time will tell!! and many sleeps to think about it on!!

hate to disappoint you mate but 4 stud bugs are 4x 130. they would look fat though. it is do able though. the best way is to buy blank discs and drums and drill them to the patten you want. this is about $800 for a full set.

Update,
3.75" Tacho installedi n glovebox!
not running yet, just waiting for some wire from a mate!
looks ok, nothing too fancy, but keeps the bug looking nice and stock when the glove box is closed!

my rego papers say that my engine is a 1300cc?
is this true? and how do i find out if its real or not?
NSW rego papers are about as usefull as tits on a bull
ive seen that many mistakes on engine capacity over the years its not funny
at least 3 of my bugs have been way off with engine capacity
a mates bug changed modles a few times
one said it was a 62 1192cc a few years earlier same bug was a 64 1285cc....🙄
H is 1500 single port in aus but im betting its probably a 1600 these days as the parts bolt straight in and are cheaper than the 1500 kits so most mechanics make the swap when engines are rebuilt which after 40 years most have been several times

ok a question for all u guys in the kno out there...
is my bug an IRS or Swingaxle?
iv been trying to find out for a while, TBH looking under the car didnt do much for me.
iv been reading that in 1969 IRS was introduced. but was that only on semi-autos? or all 1500's?
its really got me thinking casue if i want to make the car handle better im guessing it would be better for me to have an IRS rear?

IRS became standard in 69 only in the US on standard bugs
all of aus, europe etc had swinger standards and superbeetles were IRS
