I Need an Albins 6speed sequential 4x4 kombi gearbox to handle twin turbo charged Alloy 4litre injected V8 power

how much HP have you got and what does the torque curve look like? you may save your box by going with a bigger turbe that moves the boost band up or do what Indian automotive did and mid mount and use a v8 auto 🙂

555bug, i`m putting twin turbos onto it soon , havnt a clue what the power curve looks like yet but i`m not really that fussed, i just need something like the Albins box to cope with it once it`s done :-)

try source a G50 less than half the price - i thought these could take 500-600hp?

If that was the case, you'd see them in all the top Offroad Race cars, but you dont......

every GT40 replica I have seen runs either a G50 or UN-1, a lot of offroar guys run these also, just have a look ta the classified in offroadracing.com.au but ultimatly everything breaks. I don't think a 600hp sreat car would be any bother for a G50 unless it axles tramps like a champ 🙂

The UN-5 & the G50 are way too long to fit in,,, My DC has already got the rear end extended somewhat & i really don`t want to extend it any more

I`ve talked with Albins to sort a gear kit & shafts for my Kombi box ,,, just for now,,, hope it will last a few months till i sort out what i can do to take the power

Matty what`s with the 4speed renault from your old DC? You say it will bolt it & maybe just need a taller diff yeah?

The porsche box i was talking about yesterday in my PM to you is not the G50 and will as mentioned bolt in fairly easily although as also mentioned yesterday it will be expensive.
Yes the 4speed renault box will bolt straight in and was what i was going to use at one stage and as Matt Berry has said it is still in his old DC at the moment and well worth a look.
The current owner of Matts old DC lives near me here at Capalaba and is usually more than happy to show you how it is all done , so if you want a look see send me a PM with your phone details and i will see what i can do about seeing Mark for you .

Thanks Andrew, i`m looking at a whole heap of different avenues at the moment, but for now i`ve ordered a set of Albins gears to shove back into my 2L box just for the time being & will probably go for the 4x4 porsche box fairly soon

you cant do burnt outs in it
you cant leave the lights faster than a top fueler
you cant jump and land full power on

Subibaja,,, i respect what you say & understand what you mean & everything,,, i really do,,, but to put it quite simply & bluntly--> i`m an absolute nut case

I`ve had my old splitty single cab ute with a well worked leyland P76 V8 up it`s bum doing massive sand dune jumps at Moreton Island & 120mph+ up the surfside beach on low tide, at night, with the headlights off many many times & for about 15 years,,, i then raced that same running gear package in off road races for a few years in a Rivmaster frame buggy, (yet the kombi handled & more importantly-->steered way better)

It`s dead set a happening thing --> twin turbo-ing & 4x4-ing the duel cab--- obviously i will need to spend the cash & time & engineering to sort a decent box to handle it etc,,, that`s not an issue, it`s basically a done deal, just need the right homework & a little time to sort it all,.,, i allready have the 2 turbos, the exhaust isn`t an issue, I`m onto the front diff ,steering & front wheel drive assys allready (there`s a fair bit of playing going on there) i already have both an Autronic & an Adaptronic so i can take my pick & use the other on one of my minis,, one of my very good mates does most of the wiring for stone bros V8 super cars :-) & i`m not scared to make sure that i have at least a genuine 400hp 4x4 kombi ute,,, & yeah i am definately going to do full, 4 wheel, burn out type doh-nuts on the bitumen ... drag off ferarris & V8 dunnydoors, race the dam thing at Willowbank autocross circuit & even a Mt cotton & grafton hlllclimb or 10,,, etc

I have a turbo charged alloy V8 front wheel drive speedway mini that isn`t far off completion,,, a turbo charged yamaha R1 powered hillclimb special , amongst a whole host of other stoopid fast minis,,, i`m just a complete dikk-hed when it comes to decent grunt, bags of traction & a whole heap of fun in a stoopid fast weired & wonderfuly unique car

sorry if you think it`s sacrilage to do all this to a duel cab kombi or if you think i`m wasting my time & money or if you think it`s not "do-able" or whatever reason you have for saying i shouldn`t fang my kombi like a race car,,, but we only live once & i`d rather have some fun while i`m here,,, My mum told me to do that just before she died of an Aneurysm just after she retired a couple of years ago ,,, & i always do what my mum tells me :-)

It needs to be able to cope & be reliable,,, i`m happy to spend the cash & time, i`m not scared,,, it`s just a car

There was that 21 window bus running 993 turbo running gear, built by some race company in the US... Can't remember any names or links off the top of my head, nor would it suit off road, but would certainly be worth looking up.

No worries Terry, i didn`t take offence at all,,, but i am going to be a bit of a dik in it anyway & that`s why i want to throw bucket loads of money at the drive train so it won`t break,,, no point having something all grunty & fun without being able to use the right peddle heaps hey? :-)

A-I-Ted... i`m not really wanting to do stuff like that,,, as much fun as that looks :-) I`m more keen to get back into club level motorkhanas, Autocross, Hillclimbs, street & circuit sprint meetings etc & the kombi is meant to just be the tow car for my race minis (i have a few race bricks) But i want to enter the kombi in all the events as well,,, so it`s going to need to be able to cope with 4 wheel donuts & drifts & such & i`ll be going surfing at Moreton Island with it too so having it 4x4 is just a bonus for that stuff :-)

Matty ,,, you`ve known me a pretty dam long time now hey>???? & that`s not really "That" much to ask ... compared to the punishment we`ve dished out on previous V8 kombis :-) & they were all only running shitbox grotty old 2nd hand 1600 IRS boxes :-) ... Ahhh, the good old days :-)

PS: I`ve found a Lock-rite diff, 2nd hand all ready fitted to a 2L carrier & comes with porsche output flanges as well as a pair of kombi ones,,, What`s it worth??? It`s supoposed to have olny drive 6kms,,, but hey i could say that about my Turbo V8 mini too :-)

I need to offer him a figure but i don`t want to burn me or him & i`ve really got no idea, just reckon that i might as well grab it & shove it in while we`re fitting up the Albins gears next week... but i don`t really need to be told that the $1k that i spent was $500 too much if you know what i mean???

I wouldn't go that high Nick. Dont know that they're still available, but the lokrite was only about $500, with the other gear, I'd go $1k max....but then again?
