do you have pics? thanks..

no but i seem to remember its something like that

havea look in the CB section

Different to a split bus.
They have the wiper switch on the back of the unit.

Since pics are such a great learning & visual tool, I rummaged around in my CB pic files to find some shots of wiper motors.

Pic 1. This is Randy Carlson's Oldbug (USA) restoration.
Pic 2. This is Erich Kircher's (USCB) recent import to the USA.
Pic 3. Ditto. Left side shot.
Pic 4. I think this is Nathan's CB???
Pic 5. This is another CB in the US...the ex-Ken Walker car.
Bill Moore and I refer to this car as "The Memphis CB".

Hope the pics help identify the part.
Also, any one with a parts list should be able to crossreference the part number with other VW models sold in Oz during the CB production time frame.
Bill or cbjohn probably could help on this question.

they are pretty much a 1 off and very hard to find, they always break off at the switch on the back.

The part # was 12Y 955 013 but that was a CB part number manufactured externally and specific only to the CB.
The original unit is an SWF Germany manufacture. They are like rocking horse shit to find today. In 2004 I managed to track down two NOS units in the UK and bought both of them. Cost me more than one of my cars did.
Antique Tyres in Melbourne have a similar replacement wiper motor on their website and I know one guy has had success in fitting to his CB with limited problem. Check out their website and drill down into their wiper motor section. The good thing- they are available in 6 or 12 volt according to the website.

Bill, thanks for your help with this specific question.
As always, The King of CB's has the knowledge and information at hand to answer about 99 44/100 % of queries on the beloved Country Buggy.
Bill's intimate knowledge of all aspects of this vehicle is phenomenal, and we all owe him a word of thanks and a toast for being so diligent about his years of research on CB's.
Most of us would be totally out in the dark without his dedication.....especially those of us overseas.
Kudos to Bill Moore!!!

Don't you know a bloke with one of those on the shelf Bill?🤓

they are very similar to wiper motors assemblies You could buy 10 years ago from most Agricultural farm suppliers

I think a UK company called VAPORMATIC used to sell them in Australia

they were for tractors with basic cabs fitted..

Lee

I followed up on Lee's tip.
Vapormatic is in fact still around it appears.

I had to register to get anywhere within the site and the navigation is initially a little odd to me, but I was able to locate a couple of wiper motors.

Given OEM or NOS replacements parts are almost impossible to come by, there well may be several owners out there that are looking for a reasonable solution to this problem, without totally aborting their windscreen frames in an attempt to arrive at a working solution.

Vapormatic has two models of motors which may work, albeit with some modifications to adapt to a CB.

VLC3005

VLC3007

The two models appear to be the same in specs, other than a difference in "wiped arc".

Here's specs:

VLC3005
Torque 3.5 Nm 3 lbs/ft
Wiped arc 90 Degrees
Overall length 110 mm 4.331 in
Thread length 93.5 mm 3.681 in
Spindle length 16.5 mm 0.65 in
Spindle diameter 6 mm 0.236 in

VLC3007
Torque 3.5 Nm 3 lbs/ft
Wiped arc 115 Degrees
Overall length 110 mm 4.331 in
Thread length 93.5 mm 3.681 in
Spindle length 16.5 mm 0.65 in
Spindle diameter 6 mm 0.236 in

Hope this is helpful to someone trying to achieve a working wiper system.

Steve

I looked also, but I didn't want to log in etc...

as you can see the thread is extra long so it can be cut to any desired length..

I didn't know before reading this post that the Country Buggy wiper motor had the switch on the back...

they would be 12 volt I guess..

cheers

LEE

I have a few spares, All my wrecks are still also fitted with wiper motors.
Don't know if any work, never tested them.
i'd be prepared to sell one I guess.

Well if someone can't get an OEM or NOS part, Nathan's offer sounds pretty good to me.
I perused Bill's Antique Tyres suggestion.

Here's a pic and their specs:

"WIPER MOTOR 6V OR 12V practical modem wiper motor for continual use, 6 volt or 12 volt. inoffensive dull black plastíc cover, switch with 'auto-park'. central drive offtake with two stabilising mounting points. Shaft is 3 1/4" long. Has built in ON-OFF switch

WIPER MOTOR 6V OR 12V practical modem wiper motor for contínual use, 6 volt or 12 volt. Polished stainless steel cover, switch with 'auto-park'. central drive offtake with one stabilising mounting points. Shaft is 5" long."

More info = more options.

Lee's right

the lamborghini and john deere tractors out at my farm use identical looking SWF wiper motors too

It would appear to me after a little net research this morning, SWF is either a wholly owned subsidiary of Valeo, or SWF uses Valeo as a marketing and distribution network for their windscreen products.
Valeo appears to be a Euro centered automotive part conglomerate making all manner of items.
Valeo has a subdivision exclusively devoted to wiper systems:
VALEO WISCHERSYSTEME GmbH
Stuttgarter Str. 119
74321 Bietigheim-Bissingen
Germany

There is very little info on SWF on the net......other than wiper blades.
My instinct tells me this was likely an independent company at the time it was supplying wiper motors for CB's that got swallowed up in a corporate merger of some sort.....a very common occurrence over the last 40 years.
Still, with this info, those with European contacts might have a shot at locating some original wiper motors somewhere.

Anyone have a clue as to what the original SWF part number was???

Regards,
Steve

Yes i have a wiper motor for a KB IS YOURS 6 VOLT

I know that this is an old thread but was having a look at wiper motors for a buggy project that I am planning and came across this unit, its switched from the back of the unit and looks like it may be suitable as a cheaper alternative and its similar to look at, cheers Greg

I like this one. Has good stem length, that can be cut to suit. The arm and blade are a pretty good match too.
