boof2332 ·

Hi All,

For ages I have been talking about making some rear guards to match my aero fronts that do not have the big, elephant foot tail lights. Fat smoothies......

A few moulds and alot of filler and sanding till 4am on several weeknights has finally paid off. I am about to do the final 2 piece mould which will be the master mould. From this I will be able to make copies for anyone who wants a set....

I will post lots of pics when finally done however here is a sneak peek!!

You can't get the Aero rear guards without any tail lamp
holes etc??

I will spend today finishing off the little details...i am then going to paint them gloss black to see how they look for shape...then mould them. Hopefully be ready to bust out copies in a week or two.

i take it they will only be 2" wider?

063bug ·

...what is the overall width increase and any chance of a photo from the back and side?..... nice work and am interested in a good set of widened rears.... any chance of doing the same for the fronts???

.... sooo demanding I know 🙂

Lookin good boof - reckon I could be interested in a set as well...

Hey guys
Progress has slowed temporarily as i was taken out by a stolen car on my sv1000 coming home from work at high speed. Broken hand now with pins and fractured opposite elbow. Good news is my mate who fibreglasses million dollar boats has been helping me do the moulds. Thank god for that, as i now know i knew nothing about glassing.
We should have moulds complete next week and then will do the first set. I will post pics of them complete asap.

Boof, is there nothing you are not willing to succeed at.

Great work.

!BOUNCE!

Man this thread has been bumped more times than a latino lowrider.

Has Matt/Boof taken a vow of silence? Or just got sick of the Dub scene?

Still keen for these puppies.

Yeah... I am just about resigned to having a crack at making some widened steelies for myself. CSP have what I want - but they would not sort out freight for me. Told me to find a freight company for myself... Which is a bit pants. I might have to track down some decent early guards as "prototypes" before I start cutting my current ones up.🥲

Turbo54 ·

There is someone in Adelaide making moulds for 2" wider early rears 2" wider oval fronts and standard oval fronts at the moment.
I have leant him my mint set of 54 fronts to make the mould from. Should be around 150 per guard. U2U me if interested and I will send you his number. They should be really good and the 2" rear will have the perfect shape as I am being really fussy with the prototype as we are trial fitting them on my oval.

Sorry kids,

They were put on the back burner when one of the mould halves did not release properly, and I had to get my car back on the road so I just put the ugly aeros back on.

One mould is ready although the other will need the bad half hand ground and then filled and re gelcoated.

Ill pull it down this week and re inspect the damage....it really put me off after all the initial time spent.

Matt,

Good to hear from you again mate. Hope you healed up well.
I'll wait for your results - no huge rush. I know what you mean about the moulds. I have done a little playing around moulding stuff and yeah it can be a real put-off when things don't work out, considering how fecking messy it is to work with this sort of stuff.

Cheers mate.
