Speedo interchangeability

Hey,
I need a new speedo. One with a fuel guage in it and in KPH. My baja is a 63, 12volt. Will any beetle speedo fit or do i need a particular year?

Any flats dash one will do, just make sure its not from an L Bug. It must have the little mounting ears like your original one, L Bug one just slide into the dash so they have no ears.

they are all the same excepting the 1973-75 L or 1303S beetle.. [curved windscreen]

they all screw in the same [two screws]
and the bulbs can be changed for 6 or 12 volts..
the fuel gauge should work too...

KMH ones without the fuel gauge are the cheapest...
on ebay a lot...

KMH with the fuel gauge can be very expensive....

all the beetle ones have the speedo cable going in at an angle...
Kombis go straight in...

Speedos don't have ears Steve....
at least not yet.... lol

yes they do mine is always listering so it can tell my wife tricky things don't trust them

My speedo listens to my sister dissing the car and then tells the car to cease working, untill she sais sorry... true story.

finding flat dash speedos in km/h is getting harder cos they were only made in aus for 2.5years
theres plenty of Lbug ones out there
if ur creative u can make them fit
someone had fitted an Lbug one to sonic but it was in mph
i actually liked it, it was on a much better angle, and Lbug speedos have heaps larger idiot lights that stand out better
