My 1835 doesnt appear to be firing on 1 & 3 the compression is good I did a cylinder leak down test and that is all good the valves are all adjusted correctly the plugs are new the leads are good I am starting to run out of ideas and the ones that are left are not very appealing if anyone has 2 cents to through in feel free

Joel ·
running kardrons by chance?
or similar small single barrel twin carbs
they often have a tendency to do this but only at idle

it seems to be at idle the old girl still gets up and goes, I have a 40 dcnf on and the cap is in good nic I am not so sure about the dist shaft would it be easy to see that is bent or should I pull it out and get it checked,i am in Perth
vw54 ·
it aint bent if it runs how do u know it aint running on 1 and 3 ????
do u have the plug leads around the right way 1 4 3 2 check this first
hewpt ·
the leads are ok and in the right order if they were out the missing and backfiring would only get worse ?
greedy53 ·
try swaping the plugs around see if they cause other cylinders to fail worth a try
hewpt ·
Tried that and put new plugs in as well
VWCOOL ·
many single-barrel twin carbs (Kadrons etc) exhibit this behaviour at idle
